Verity's POV

I wasn't supposed to follow him.

Caleb had left Cassian's chambers an hour ago saying he needed air and that I should stay where it was safe. But something about the way he'd walked out had felt wrong. His shoulders were too tense and his jaw was clenched too tight and his eyes had held something dark that I'd never seen before.

So I waited until the guards weren't looking and slipped out after him.
