Chapter 7

Chapter 7

I was so glad to see the gentle approval on Arnou’s face when I gave my reply. He seemed pleased that I was walking away from such a bad situation.“What time do you want to leave? Just say the word and it’s done” Arnou asked me.

I looked at Eden and realized that I couldn’t stomach to be here, another minute. Not with Nikkini about to take over my chambers. I didn’t necessarily need to be the Lycan’s luna but I could at least use this opportunity to leave.

“How about immediately?” I asked a bit tentatively scared that I would seem too eager.

Eden looked at me, a look of wide panic on his face and yelled “No, if the Lycan leaves before the annual gala is over, I would become the mocking stock of all the other alphas.”

“It’s a bit late for that don’t you think? I can assure you that you’re already being mocked for rejecting your luna in front of the others lunas.” I said with a mocking smirk at him.

Arnou pointedly ignoring Eden, just looked relieved, and said to me.

“I was hoping you would say that. Pack your things, let’s leave.”

A few moments later, Arnou and I were en route to the Lycan territory via the carriage that had bought Arnou to the gala. I could barely believe it, the whole thing seeming like a chapter from a fairytale book.

I was still wary though, I mean even Eden had treated me well at first. What if the same thing happens with Arnou again? What if he gets tired of me in the future?

When I get to the lycan territory I wonder what I can do. I mean, I did manage the entire blood diamond pack for three years. Lord knows Eden did the bare minimum.

I could offer my skills and maybe work as an official. It’s not that I don’t want the power that comes with being Luna. I’m just still trying to figure everything out.

I mean what’s the guarantee that I would be happier with Arnou if I indeed accept to be his luna?

Besides I know no one except Arnou in his pack. What if his pack members don’t accept me?

No, I can’t go through the same thing over again. I’ll just have to find time to speak to Arnou in private.

All this thoughts plagued my mind and I felt anxious.

Arnou seemed to notice at a point, but when he asked me I just answered him ambiguously.

Before long, the carriage pulled into an extremely long driveway. I just knew we had arrived the Lycan territory, my new home.

I couldn’t help but stare out the window in awe. Everything was so different, and beautiful. I mean I had visited different territories as Luna before but this beat all of them.

It was amazing. I was still staring out the window when the carriage door opened.

Arnou came down first and then offered his hand to me. I took with with a small smile and he helped me down.

We walked up to the grand palace I had been admiring and I felt a little bit self-conscious. I was staring at a big white fountain probably with my mouth open when I heard chuckles.

I closed my mouth immediately and turned bright red which only incited more chuckles from the girl laughing.

She had flaming red hair and she was devastatingly beautiful I couldn’t help but stare at her and wonder who she was. She wore riding leathers like she had just come from the stables, and while they looked plain but the leathers were lined with gold thread betraying their value.

She had to be rich and important if she was wearing expensive clothes and laughing at the Lycan’s guest. Because I don’t think she knows who I am.’

“Arnou! You’re back, I’ve missed you and I have a lot of things to talk about with you.” The red-haired beauty said as she came walking swiftly towards Arnou and I with a big smile on her face.

I smiled tentatively at the lady and tried to introduce myself.

“Hello, I’m Daciana. It’s really nice to meet you. What’s your name?”

The girl didn’t even deign to look at me or give my outstretched hand another thought. She just straight up ignored me, walked briskly past me to Arnou, and gave him a hug.

I blushed so furiously in embarrassment as I dropped my outstretched hand awkwardly.

Arnou held my arm and turned me to face them. “Daciana, this is Alisa and she’s my cousin sister. We’ve known each other since we were babes and we grew up together.”

I tried to give Alisa another small polite.

“Aren’t you the luna who was rejected at the annual festival by her alpha?” Alisa asked me mockingly with one brow raised.

I looked at her in surprise, I hadn’t seen any messengers. I couldn’t help but wonder how the news had travelled so fast.

I turned to Arnou and said as much.

“How do you think the news got here so fast?” I asked more than a little bit confused.

Arnou smiled a bit at me and said. “I mind-linked my family and the high-ranking members of the pack on our way here.”

I was mortified, and it showed on my face. Oh my God, it’s so embarrassing to be humiliated, rejected and mated again in less than thirty minutes.

And now, everyone knows about it even before I get my fresh start.

“Did you tell them everything?” I asked Arnou in growing horror.

“Only the important bits.” He replied

I couldn’t hep but wonder what exactly Arnou considered the important bits.

“Come Daciana, my entire family and the high-ranking members of the pack are already gathered in the palace waiting to meet you.”

Just like that, my light mood vanished.

I was so nervous to meet the rest of his family. I have never had family of my own, not really.
