Inside the Chen family estate…..

As one of the bigshots of Shanghai city,the Chen family estate was a testament to the generations of power and wealth the family possessed. Surrounded by an ancient looking stone wall whose age permeated the atmosphere,the estate boasted sprawling pavilions,serene gardens and Koi ponds that echoed the whispers of a bygone era while keeping up with the sleek elegance provided by modern design.

Their name was synonymous with power and affluence as the Chen family lived a life that most could only dream of.

They were what you would call the topdogs of the pharmaceutical industry in the whole of Shanghai,their influence permeating the whole industry. A single stomp from them could cause widesoread ripples in the Shanghai stock market and even….. beyond! Their influence reverberating across the city's healthcare sector.

Yet they preferred a life of seclusion,contrary to the expectation of many,operating behind closed doors, manipulating the scenes from the dark,only unveiling their ambitions through carefully curated public appearances.

They simply loved a quiet and tranquil life.

Today however,the tranquility of their estate was disrupted.

“How dare you hit me!”

The sharp sound of a palm hitting the cheek echoed through the Chen mansion’s opulent living room,scattering the fragile sense of tranquility like a stone falling inside a pond. Following that was the high pitched squeal of a woman.

"I slapped you and I'll do it again you whore,how dare you!” Another voice,thicker and deeper yelled back,obviously from a man.

Outside,some of the maids who worked in the mansion stood at the french windows,gossiping as they watched the drama unfold.

Maid one: “Sigh,here they go again,but master's slap this time was…yikes really strong if you ask me.”

Maid two:” She deserves it,imagine sneaking around with other men despite having this Adonis as your husband. Urrgh,some people are just lucky and yet treat the opportunity like shit!”

Maid one:”Sssh,quieten down and let's listen!"

The man and woman having an argument were Chen Feng and his wife,Mia Lee.

“Chen Fang how could you? How dare you lay your hands on me?" Holding her cheek that was still stinging Mia asked again her tone dripping with indignation. She couldn't believe that he would actually dare to slap her.

Sneering, Chen Fang looked at her with disgust before he spoke again.

“ How could I? How could YOU,Mia?! I have given you everything you've ever wanted! Money,power,status,influence! You name it and it's your's,yet you still had the guts to actually have an affair and even let it leak,just look at this Mia,look!

You're a total disappointment! Damn it,I regret ever agreeing to marry you in the first place!"

As he said the last word,Chen Fang brought his phone out,sticking it right up to her face.It was there,right on the popular social media app Weibo. The were pictures of her and some random guy in various sex positions posted everywhere.

He knew this lady was wild but never knew she was this wild. The impact these pictures would have on their company would be earth shattering,it's effects tarnishing their reputations tremendously.

Another thing that pained him was that some of the positions they were engaged in was even unimaginable to him! The pain of being cuckolded was stifling.

Chen Fang's voice dropped,low and venomous.”I regret ever marrying you,...what do you have to say for yourself!"

Outside,the two gossipy maids exchanged a glance,the tension inside the room was palpable even through the glass.

Maid one:”....Do you think,she'll try to walk her way out of this one?”

Maid two:” Duh….of course,that's what she's always been doing previously. But this time I highly doubt Master's going to let her go scot free. Unless she has a crazy plan though.”

Well she did have a crazy plan and as if to confirm that,Mia gazed at Chen Feng,the pitiful look in her face replaced by a shrewd expression.Chuckling slightly she smirked as she exclaimed lightly.

“Oh!”

The change in her tone and expression caused Chen Feng to frown,though he quickly schooled his expression. No matter what she said he had already made a final decision in his mind.

“You know,when we got married five years ago,I didn't really like you,in fact I hated you!

If not for the fact that my father's company was having difficult times and he needed your family's help I would still be a free woman,not an object to be used as a symbol of sincerity between to families!”

The last words were said rather loudly causing Chen Feng to frown. While what she said was true,he was also helpless at the time as he was also against marrying her,he even had to break up with the only person he truly loved due to some conditions beyond his powers. While he had moved on from it and accepted his fate,it seemed this woman was still stuck in the past.

It was understandable that she felt aggrieved,however it didn't warrant her having an affair!

Calmly Chen Feng asked her:” Is that why you did what you did? To get back at me? If it is,you're sorely mistaken! Apart from the family's image that's going to be stained,it's going to do me no harm.”

BAM!

Slamming a stack of paper on the table she triumphantly looked at him " That I know,so that's why I'm going for a divorce! ”

Immediately she said this the whole room fell into silence. Even the maids outside were stunned as they never expected her to jump straight to divorce.

Chen Feng in the other hand was also surprised,though it quickly went away. The decision he had in his mind was to report her to the family's elders and her father, her bringing up the matter of divorce was honestly out of his expectations.

Looking at her face, it was evident that she had planned this for sometime.

Picking up the divorce letter on the table he twirled it in his hands before saying:”And if I don't agree?"

Rolling her eyes she continued." Oh please,I know how much you also want to get rid of me. Signing these papers will free both of us.

Gazing deeply at her,he nodded his head before acknowledging it.

“Okay,but the council has to be present."

“No problem,I'll wait."
