Inside the Chen family's elders council….

" Noooo….Chen’er you were too rash! Mia was clearly goading you,this was all a preplanned plot. You could've pacified her first before agreeing rashly to her demands.Sigh…”

“Grand elder,you know I told you guys back then that allowing this boy to become the heir of the Chen family was a bad idea,he's a lowlife! If not for bringing him into the family he would probably not have amounted to anything! Was I wrong? Answer me! Just look at what he has done. How could you possibly agree to her divorce request. Whether we like it or not we have to relinquish at least a third of our assets as compensation.”

Watching the elders seated across me I couldn't help but sneer especially at that second elder. This was all my,fault? Huh,not that I'm blaming them but….then, they're actually the main cause of all this issue! If they hadn't forced me to marry her then would all these have happened? Of course not!

But I wasn't gonna talk……or was I? Turning to the second elder I started talking.

“Elder Chen Xing,it seems you have forgotten that you were the strongest advocate for my marriage with Mia. I clearly rejected her,yet you turned the council’s mind telling them not to allow me into the family unless I married her,do you remember?”

" What are you trying to insinuate,you punk?”

His long beard billowed as he asked,clearly infuriated. It was said that filial piety was key,but not to just any asshole.

" Chen'er,don't be rash,calm down and let's….”

" ELDER Xuan! This old fool is the cause of all these trouble and yet he has the guts to accuse me. Do you know how many misdeeds Mia has committed? Each of which is enough to damage our family's image,my image! But I covered it up each time. Do you think that if I refused to sign the divorce papers this time around she wouldn't do something even worse next time?"

I could see that Elder Xing was fuming at the side but I didn't give a damn! These people had always been getting on my nerves a long,long time ago and finally I had an opening to vent!

A sinister smile hanging on my lips,I stared at Elder Xing acting like I remembered something.

“Oh yeah, Elder Xing,don't think I don't know about the deal between you and the Lee family. Selling out information and secrets of your family to the opposition in exchange for support to seize the grand elder's position,does that sound…., treacherous to you?"

" What!”

" Impossible!”

"Elder Xing is what he said true?"

Immediately I said this,I could see that his eyes shrunk till they became pinpricks,. Clearly he never expected me to know this as it was actually well hidden. If not for me chancing upon it accidentally,I never would have imagined that there was actually such a ploy between the Lee family and Elder xing.

Snarling,Elder Xing rose up from his seat clearly agitated,I could see the fear in his eyes despite his desperate attempts to hide it.” Boy,you better watch that mouth of yours and stop spouting rubbish,don't try to form stories to cover up your misdeeds. How dare you.."

"QUIET!”

With a roar, Elder Xuan shut Elder Xing down before he turned his gaze at me,his expression calmowever I could dectect an undercurrent of anger behind that tranquil facade.

"Chen'er….what you said just now…how sure are you about it. Do you have any evidence?"

As expected of Elder Xuan he was the only person whose heart had been with the Chen family the longest. He would definitely take the matter seriously.

“Of course I do,I have numerous voice recordings and even the texts between them,here they are.”

Saying this,I brought out a USB stick that I had kept just for this kind of scenario. I handed it to one of the Chen family guards who plugged it into the display system.

Playing it,everybody could see the conversations between Elder Xing and one of the Lee family members. At this point Elder Xing was visibly shaking his expression bordering on outright horrified. He knew he was done for.

About five minutes later the whole thing finished playing and the room fell quiet once more. Looking at Elder Xing,Grand Elder Xuan couldn't help but shake his head.

“Chen Xing what do you have to say for yourself?"

Calling him by his name probably made him realise how severe his misdeeds had been. In a burst of unstable emotions he threw his head backwards and started laughing like a maniac.

“Heheheheh,hehehehe,heheheh,ahhahahaha.”

Snapping his head straight up ,he pointed at Grand elder before snarling.

" It's all your fault,your fault. Why did you get to become the Grand elder while I could only become the first elder. We are both equal in the same aspects,heck I have even toiled harder than you for the Chen family,yet what do I get? Nothing!Absolutely,nothing! And you asked me why I did what I did…if you were in my shoes wouldn't you,answer me,wouldn't YOU?”

Shrieking as he said the last word,I could see that Elder Xing was already consumed by hatred and obsession.

“Sigh…, guards escort elder Xing out of the room,later well deal with his case.”

Turning to me I could see the guilt in his eyes.

“Chen'er…I know that we have offended you grievously and imposed our desires over yours,on behalf of the Elders committe could you please not take this to heart. Please for the Chen family.”

As he said this I could not help but feel a fiery rage grow in me. However I was not one to let my emotions to get the better part of me and to prevent that I started leaving the room avoid that. But just as I was about to leave the hall,I stopped at the entrance.

“Your selfish desires five years ago made me make a choice that I've regretted till today,I broke the heart of the only person that loved me unconditionally. Do you think that your apology can change that?"

Without bothering for their reply I left.
