Stepping out of the elder’s council hall,Chen Feng twirled the keys to his limited edition Lamborghini Aventador as he headed for the garage. He needed to clear his head and the Chen estate was no place for reflection.
Right at the entrance of the garage, Old Wuji, the head butler, was already waiting. The elderly man stood with his usual dignified posture, his hands clasped behind his back.
“Master Chen,”old Wuji said."... should I arrange a driver for you and prepare the Bentley?”
“No,there's no need for that." Chen Feng said as he waved the keys in his hands. Looking at the keys in his hands he needed no more explanations to know that Chen Feng was going out for personal reasons as he only used the sports car when he was the one driving.
“Alright sir. Is there any other instructions?"
Entering the car,Chen Feng looked towards,Old Wuji, his expression indicating that he was thinking about something. “You know what, take the rest of the day off.”
" But master,ther…"
Before he could continue,Chen Feng cut him of with a wave of his hand.
“You've been working hard lately, just take the day off to relax. Furthermore, it's almost time to get off work anyway, just take it as finishing earlier. “
“Thanks a lot master, I really appreciate, and take care on your journey."
Nodding,Chen Feng revved the engine to the max as he backpedalled out the garage driving out the estate. The windows were open and the sharp wintry breeze felt especially sharp on his ears as they turned a shade if red. Not that he minded it though because right now his mind was in turmoil and anything that could distract him was highly welcome. Slipping in Eason Chan's Ten years tape,he set the volume to the max as he began to sing along.
If those two words hadn’t trembled,
I wouldn’t have realized my pain.
How could I say it out loud?
It was only a breakup.
If there were no expectations for tomorrow,
Holding hands would be like a journey.
Out of thousands of doorways,
There’s always one where someone leaves first.
Since we cannot stay in each other’s arms,
Why not savor the moment of parting?
Enjoy it while the tears fall…..
And thus, on a deserted highway a young man in a Lamborghini Aventador was singing the sorrow in his heart out.
……..
“Damn,singing isn't for me."
Parking the car outside the park entrance,Chen 6couldn't help but rub his throat. His voice wasn't naturally good in the first place.
It was already pretty much deserted now, except for the old uncle manning the gate there was no one in sight, probably due to it being winter.
Normally, this place would be teeming with love drunk youngsters around this time, but it seemed that the extremely come weather was too strong, even for love.
Exchanging pleasantries with the uncle at the gate,Chen Feng entered the park under his confused gaze. He knew the man was probably wondering what a grown, single man like him was finding in a deserted park at night.
Wandering a bit Chen Feng arrived at a secluded spot under an old pear blossom tree. Considering that it was winter this tree was already bare. This place was special as it held a deep meaning to him . There was only one person that knew this place apart from him.
Sitting on the old rusty bench,he contemplated all that happened today.
The fact that Mia was nothing but moving trouble was nothing new to him. He had known that for a very long time.
Actually speaking, she was not the woman he wanted to marry in the first place. If not for circumstances beyond his power he definitely would never have married her. That lady was a pure devil's incarnate!
Thinking up to this point he couldn't help but involuntarily remember Xiao Xiao.
She was a total angel.
They had met back in high school by a complete accident. He could remember the day like it was just yesterday.
She had been his light, his angel he had a crush on her for a while but was just too shy to meet her. When he did summon the courage their first encounter was at the school cafeteria. It was a disaster!
Smiling he remembered the accidental collision between them, the spilled food, and her forgiving smile when she saw how embarrassed he was. He expected her to hate him but rather they fell in love.
They had been inseparable, their love a bright flame that burned through high school and college. He had once imagined spending forever with her.
But fate had other plans. The Chen family came knocking, and with them, a destiny he couldn’t possibly refuse. Overnight, he became the heir to a vast empire, however it came at a cost. He had to leave Xiao Xiao behind as marrying Mia had been a condition of his new life, a strategic alliance that benefited the family. A condition that he had always regretted agreeing to.
Even now, years later, the weight of that decision still stifled him. He had tried to reach Xiao Xiao through various means, to explain and to make amends. Sadly however, she had vanished. Those who were able to contact her however told him that she was moved to the south. And that was the last time he heard of her.
Sighing,Chen Feng ,leaned back against the bench while palming his face. “ If only I had…”
SPLASH!!
The splashing sound disrupted his thoughts. His ears perked up as he wondered who would actually be swimming on a cold night like this. Listening for a while though he noticed something odd. There was no follow up to the splashing. That could only mean one thing.
“Someone's drowning!"
Rising quickly, Chen Feng followed the sound to the lake. The moonlight reflected off the water’s surface, causing the gun and knife to reflect it's light. Instantly he understood, someone had tried to commit suicide here!
The noose on the rope further confirmed that. It seemed that the person chose to drown as these things were unused as far as he could see.
His chest tightened. The newspapers had been full of reports about recent drownings in the area. Without wasting another second, Chen Feng dived into the icy waters.
. He was an excellent swimmer back in his elementary school days. While he hadn't gone swimming for a while now,he still had the experience.
He didn't swim that deep before sighting the person,a lady it seemed. Grabbing her,he quickly made his way to the surface. Gasping he brought the two of them out of the water. He quickly performed some basic resuscitation techniques on her though they seemed not to work.
It seemed that he would have to do mouth to mouth resuscitation.
“Don't give up on me lady!”
Shifting the hair that clung to her face, he was about to start when his eyes couldn't help but become bigger.
“XIAO XIAO!"
