“A thing? What type of thing are you talking about exactly?” His cunning eyes scrutinized me before they widened. “You weren’t dating her, were you?” The look of shock on his face would have been funny if the subject of Zephyra hadn’t been such a sore spot right then.

“It was just casual,” I said. “Just a few weeks.”
