Chapter 2

Two

ELENA

Those were the most heartbreaking words I ever heard from him. I just lost my virginity to the man I always wanted to be with so badly and all he had to tell me was that I was only going to be his sex thing?

As he left me that night, I couldn't wait for him to leave fully before I began to cry my heart out the way I wanted. I couldn't contain my hurt any longer.

I thought he would call me again the next night but he didn't. He barely looked at me when we sat for breakfast and the next night, I was getting dressed up for the ball party hosted in celebration for our wedding.

I was fully dressed in a red gown facing the mirror to stare at myself.

I had not heard his footsteps approaching from behind me. I just saw his reflection in the mirror behind me and I jolted with awe at his sudden presence.

"Why aren't you at the floor yet?" He asked, how voice soft yet never losing its terror that hid within.

"I ... I didn't know it was time." I spoke quietly.

I see his teeth gritting behind his cheeks and he lets out a sharp sigh. He then raises his eyes and I see them fixed on my backside before he looks back up at the mirror and I lower my gaze quickly away from his.

When he raises his hands, they settle on my sleeve and he pulls it down a bit. By the time he had done it for both, my cleavage was in good display.

"That's better." He said over my ear and I watched his gaze over my head as if he also wanted to make sure that my hairstyle appeared presentable.

So what now? He wanted to display me around?

He held my hand and together, we walked out of the packhouse and ended out at the yard where guests were seated around tables set around the dancing floor.

Emmet and I locked arms as if we were happily married couples. I was happy but I couldn't say the same about him.

He barely looked at me and his grip seemed cold over my skin.

When we met a group of guests, he smiled widely in a way that had me charmed but once we were alone he would retain a stoic expression and even let go of me.

As I stood beside him, I had not been attentive at the arrival of the guests not until, a tall fair lady walked in and captured my attention at once.

Stephanie was a daughter to the notable figure in the pack- the werewolf academy head, Dominic Excalire.

Stephanie was graceful as she stepped in the long slitted gown that took her shape, clutching her purse to her hip. I had earlier caught a glimpse of her outside with a tall man in green furry coat but now she was alone.

I noticed how Emmet's expression changes the moment she walked in.

I have been aware of the rather strange close friendship between my mate and Stephanie and their closeness was too sudden that I didn't know what to make of it. All I had told myself was that it wouldn't matter since I would soon be officially mated to Emmet. But seeing them locking gaze now sent a sort of chill down my spine coupled with jealousy and I gulped hard.

She took our direction and was walking closer towards us. I begin to feel uncomfortable and draw nearer to Emmet but he didn't seem to care until Stephanie was standing in front of us.

"It is nice to see you, Emmet." She glances down at me in a way that made me feel small. "And your beautiful bride." I sensed a bit of sarcasm in her tone but only smiled back and watched as Emmet grabbed her hand in a way that appeared way more than friendly.

"Excuse me, I'll like to go to the bathroom." I called out by the time my discomfort became too much for me to contain.

"Sure." Emmet responded coldly and I left them for the sake of my own comfort.

Settling unto the toilet seat of one of the restroom compartments, I bit hard on my lip my heart racing with an unexplainable worry. What was this feeling like something terrible was about to happen to me? Or was this jealousy? Is this what it felt like?

When I was done, I opened the door only to be faced with a tall man blocking the entrance.

"Mrs Domean." He called sounding polite and I sighed in awe recognizing the green furry coat he had on.

"Who are you?" I whispered and instantly he held my hand.

I was rather shocked as I felt the grasp of his fist become tight on my wrist.

"Mrs Domean you look so pretty..." He said but didn't sound harmless at all.

"Let go of me." I pleaded quietly but he was beginning to squeeze my hand when I felt myself losing my steps before falling into his grasp.

"What..." I was short of sentences when I felt myself crashing into his arms and he grips both of my hands right before pushing me to the wall.

Immediately, I felt my back on the wall, he pushed himself against me and his lips came in contact with mine.

I tried to push him off but he was stronger. I could not even move.

The door behind him went open and my eyes went wide as I see Emmet standing at the door, his eyes dilated, his nose flaring, and his fists tight.

I think the strange man had noticed we weren't alone anymore so he pulled himself away from me. That's when I see the door pushes slightly open and Stephanie is there too standing next to Emmet. At that moment I instantly knew that I had been set up.

The guy in the green didn't wait. He shifted into a brown furred wolf and slithered out in an instant.

My eyes never left Emmet who was boiling with rage.

"It's not what it looks like ..." I begin, my lips trembling and my hands shaking, but he wasn't going to hear of it.

"Guards!!" He roared and my day turned into a nightmare at once as minutes later I was thrown behind bars of a dark filthy dungeon cell.

My heart continued to beat fast as I awaited my mate so that I could explain things to him and know what my fate would be afterwards. He hadn't given me a chance to explain. Even if I did, would he believe me? I could swear that I saw the smirk on Stephanie's face as the guards dragged me away. This was her plan!

The darkness of the cell was becoming unbearable and I could feel the dirt under my bare feet. In no time I begin to feel a deep sense of irritation and dizziness.

After what seemed like forever, I caught my mate's scent and I stood up at once with my hands clenched as I listened to Emmet's footsteps. Each sound of his feet sending a pounding from my heart.

I look up to see his silhouette shaped outside the bars and I watched as the locked gate swung open and I could sense his rage as he stood there cracking his knuckles.
