Chapter 2

I shifted into my human form when he came out, he stood before me.

His jaw was clenched, and his eyes were narrowed down at me.

“You followed me. Why?”

“I wanted to be sure you’re safe.”

“Why?” I asked and swept my hair off my hair aggressively, and didn’t care if he was seeing me in my bare body.

“That’s not how a Luna should behave.”

I scoffed. “You are here to judge me too? Is that why you followed me, to say it to my face!”

“That’s not what I meant.” He frowned disapprovingly.

“Save it!” I snapped at him.

“Don’t come after me.”

I shifted back into my wolf form, and kept running into the woods, I stayed outside for hours, and decided to go back home.

I sensed him behind me, even on my way home too. I chose to ignore that I could sense his presence around me, and opened the door to the manor and entered.

Hansford wasn’t in the bedroom when I came back, and one of the maids was cleaning the bedroom. She saw me and stepped out.

I had a long shower, and went to bed, I tried to force myself to sleep and it seemed impossible. My wolf was restless, and so was I.

We stayed the whole night.

My father’s pack, his legacy, I gave it all to him, and that was what he wanted from me.

The success, the connection, the power, that was all he needed for me, and I helped him to get it.

“Where is that witch!” I heard the voice that was once calm, and sweet to me. “Where is she?”

“She’s still sleeping, Alpha.”

“Bring her out!” He ordered, and kicked the door open.

I lifted myself from the bed.

“Hansford.”

His eyes were dark and angry, he rushed down to the bed, and hit me across the face. My head twitch to the side, and I gasped as tears rolled down my cheek.

He hit me again, pulled me by the hair and pushed me forward out of the bed.

I fell on the ground, and he hurried down to me with a few steps, grabbed a fistful of my head and slammed my back against the wall.

“You witch!” He spat in my face.

“You were the one wrong, I told you to get rid of that thing in your womb and you decided to do it to Linda!” He screamed, and my face was pale, and my lips were quivering.

I didn’t know what he meant.

“You poisoned Cyra, why?” He shouted.

I shook my head, and his hand went to my throat, my feet left the ground, and could touch the air.

“Search the room!” He ordered the guards that came with him.

“You witch.” His voice came back to me, I struggled for him to let go, kick and tried to fight back but he was too strong.

They scattered the room while I tried to breathe, but he wasn’t letting go of me.

“You were sleeping soundly while I watched her groan and curse all night, bleeding from her varginal, just a say that she decided to announce her pregnancy to everyone. I watch my pup die, how dare you, Cyra!”

I shook my head, my face was swollen, I couldn’t take it anymore, he let go, and I dropped to the ground, coughing.

“Alpha, we found this, the maid was right.” A guard said to him, and Hansforc was examining it with his hand.

“Come check this.”

The man who came in was the pack physician, I lifted my head up, and stared at them.

He took the root from Hansforn which had some few leaves on it. He brought them to his nose, and perceived them. “This is a deadly poison, Alpha.”

Hansford came to me, he was vibrating, and grabbed me by the hem of the dress, and hit me hard against the wall.

I groaned.

“I didn’t…”

“The maid confirmed it, you sent her to put it in her food last night.” He growled.

I glanced over at the maid, she was the one I saw in my room last night, she was cleaning, I didn’t have the strength to ask her anything, and I never thought they would plan something like this.

“I would never…”

“Then how do you explain this?” He pointed at the poison, ”it was right in your belongings, you’re so evil.” He screamed, and pushed me towards the guard.

“Tie her down!” He ordered.

“Don’t touch me!” I yelled, and pushed them, but they pinned me down, and had a silver handcuff over my hand restraining me from shifting to my wolf.

“I’m your Luna!” I shouted.

“You’re no longer the Luna of this Pack, you’re going to face the members of the council.” Hansford said with a tight lip. “Take her away.”

“No, I never did anything wrong!”

My words fell on deaf ears the moment he turned his back against me.

He was done.

He didn’t give me a second glance back, nothing.

I was stared at, the moment I came out of my room, handcuffing on me, their voices were loud, they were all against me.

Accused me of what I did to her.

“…we don’t need someone like her as Luna.”

“She even wants to take down the Alpha. What insolence?”

“She never did anything for that pack.”

I did everything for the pack, I made Hansforc who he was, I made him everything, and gave him everything that he had.

We walked out of the manor, and it felt like the longest walk I had taken, a walk that would never end.

Where I was the criminal.

I was made to face the council, kneeled before them.

“..,we’ve heard what happened, everyone in the Pack have heard of what happened, it’s a shame that Luna could do such a thing.” The spokesman said. Hansforc came a minute after.

“But it has already been decided.” He continued, and paused for a moment, he turned to Hansforc. “How are they?”

“They? My child died because of her. My heir, our heir while she carries someone else pup in her womb!” Hansford yelled, and his voice echoed in the courtroom.

My lips quivered as I tried to speak, I couldn’t form any words.

The spokesman cleared his throat, and took a step closer to me.

“The council members have decided to denounce your title as Luna of Winterfall Pack.”

“This is my Pack, this is my home!” I shouted.

“I’m not done speaking!” He raised his voice at me and my lips clamped shut.

“You should’ve thought of it before you degraded yourself to a Beta, you should have thought of it before deciding to take a life, you should’ve thought of it before your plan of betrayal.” He wagged his finger angrily at me, I lowered barely able to meet the eyes of everyone that was here, most of them were once with my father, they were once the people that I called family.

I stared at the feet that stopped before me, and looked up.

“I, Hansford Miller, reject you as my mate, and the Luna of our Pack.”

“Yes, that’s the right thing to do.” I heard voices around me which all agreed with him.

“The council members have all agreed to reject you, so you have no say in this, you’ve been stripped off your title as Luna, and rejected as my mate.” His eyes stared darkly at him. “And you’ve been sentenced to death by royal sword.”

“I…I didn’t do it.” I pleaded, crawled toward him and held his leg, “I…think of my baby, it’s innocent.” He kicked me over my stomach, and I groaned and fell backward.

The royal sword would kill a strong wolf like me since I have the blood of an Alpha, and it had a sharp silver blade at the edge of it.

Just a slight cut was all it needed to take a life.

“Take her to the prison, stripped her off her clothes, and let her be brought back later at night to carry out her sentence.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

I was hauled against the hefty shoulders of a guard, I didn’t struggle, I could see life ending in front of my very own eyes. The pain from the rejection, our bond had snapped broken, left me numb.

The bar door opened and closed and yet I was oblivious to what was happening around me, not even the slightest idea on how everything changed so fast.

“Luna, I’m sorry.”

The voice made me tilt my head to the side, someone else was in this room with me.

“I’m sorry Luna, I tried to deny it, the pictures and all were all lies but there was nothing I could do.”

I wiped the tears from my face and looked the other way.

“They are going to hurt my baby.”

“I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”

I shook my head. “You’ve been loyal since you were made Beta, that’s what it cost.”

“But you don’t deserve this Luna, they should take me and not you.”

“I don’t think there’s anything you can do to change that.“
