Chapter 4

TRINA POV

I kept my gaze fixed on the ground, unable to look him in the eye.

I need to learn how to remain silent if I want to maintain this job.

We were in complete silence, and every second that went by made my heart race.

I raised my head gradually, and at last our gazes met.

He gave me a look, but I was unable to decipher his thoughts.

Then I watched Darius take some bills out of his wallet.

He placed the money on the table before me.

Miss Suarez, to be honest, I didn't want to see you again, and I genuinely believed that I wouldn't. However, I need to make sure you understand something now that you're here. I work as the CEO and have no other side jobs. So come on, get your $200 back.

I took a deep breath.

I never imagined that he would call me into his office to explain that he wasn't a prostitute, out of all the things I expected.

I forced a tiny, hopefully innocuous smile and said, "I understand."

I released a breath I had been holding without realizing it.

We could finally move on from the past.

We could move on since that night never happened.

He threw a $100 bill on the table before I could finish thinking that.

I gazed, perplexed.

He smiled sardonically and said, "That hundred dollars is your reward for last night." You see, it wasn't perfect. That is its actual value.

Enraged, I bit my lip in anger.

Just $100? Is it truly that much?

It's so embarrassing.

I struggled to control my temper as my fists clenched.

I told myself how much I needed this position.

"If that's all, sir, I'd like to get back to work," I said, forcing a smile as I took the $300 from the table.

I turned and walked out of his office without waiting for an answer.

---

Aubrey was at my desk as soon as I returned.

Why did he ask for you, girl? Come on. What was it he said? Tell me everything.

She was so excited that she almost talked over me.

I let out a sigh. "He assured me that he is not a sex worker."

She arched an eyebrow. "And?"

I blinked. I couldn't have told her that he had essentially turned me into a prostitute.

She would have never stopped laughing at me.

I shrugged.

"What? You don't mean to imply that's all you discussed?

That's all. What were you anticipating?

Aubrey laughed. "I reasoned that perhaps he fell in love with you last night. Maybe you two were beginning a lovely, romantic relationship.

I immediately cringed. "Stop thinking about that. I have no interest in it.

She chuckled. "Are you kidding me? How many women would kill to sleep with a man like him? Every female employee is essentially in a state of shock.

She took out her phone and showed me the photo of Darius that some coworkers had uploaded.

I rolled my eyes. "Oh, please."

"Tell me honestly, how was having sex with him?"

What was the sensation?

I was unable even to recall precisely.

I was sensitive this morning.

I remembered him coming and going.

I will never get intoxicated again, ugh.

"It wasn't that impressive," I said, trying to look good. Try sleeping with him yourself if you're truly curious.

She sighed and returned to her desk, saying, "I wish I could."

I secretly hoped I could recall every single detail of last night.

The guy is handsome, to be honest.

He may have been an excellent bed partner.

Was I that pleased with him?

Regretfully, I would never have the opportunity to learn.

He is now my boss.

There will never be anything between us because I won't go over that line.

My phone rang, startling me out of my reverie.

My mum was the one.

She must have called to encourage me to attend Uncle Winston's party this evening.

I put my hands over my face, already preparing myself for a long, tiring night.

Was I going to make it through that party without anything going wrong?
