The council hall felt strange and heavier than stone.

Every step I took into the hall made the air cling to my skin, thick with judgement and the scent of old timber.

Every carved stone wall in the council hall felt like it was there just to remind me I didn't belong.

My wolf paced inside me, all restless, angry and impatient. But I kept my expression still, because I wasn't going to give the alpha's sons the satisfaction of watching me squirm.
