Chapter 4

Evelyn’s POV

I ran with my heart in my hand as I kicked my room door open and dashed inside. Shutting it behind me, I slumped to the floor.

My back was to the wall and my head was on my thighs. Gentle, low whimpers escaped me as I thought back to what happened.

It got me asking myself one prior question, would I survive here?

“What the fuck! Why do you always have to make me feel this way?”

A Strangled scream followed the sound of the familiar voice that I believed belonged to Wren. My best friend and sister to the dickheads of a mate I had. Those devil's offsprings.

A curse followed as did a punch to the wall. I was worried, what had her acting all riled up.

“Fu..ck. Why? Why do you always make me feel so damn insignificant, wh..y?” Her voice cracked as she spoke and I shut to my feet.

“Wr——“ just when I was about to call her she bursted into the room from the balcony. Getting hold of her, I caught stray tears from her eyes before she quickly wiped it off and stashed her phone in the pocket of her straight pants.

I didn’t get a chance to ask what happened before she yelled, “he’s a fool! I'm an idiot.” She dropped down onto the couch and massaged her tempo, “god I hate him!”

I didn’t need to ask to know whom she referred to. Her boyfriend. I took a seat close to her and took her hand.

“He always makes me feel so small and dumb. Evelyn he’s so toxic and I can’t take it anymore.”

“I don’t like him for you, Wren. I’ve always told that he’s toxic for you and you deserve better, wren. You deserve better,” I said as I rubbed her palm.

“I think you should break up with him because wren I cannot stand you crying all the time because of——“

“What’s this, Evelyn?” She touched my face where I sustained a scratch from the incident.

“It’s nothing, Wren.” I brushed it off. “this is not about me but——“

“It’s them right!” She barked and shot to her feet abruptly. “They did this to you right? I swear those boys are going to get it hot from me.”

She concluded and began towards the door while I yelled her name as I chased after her. She came to a sudden halt that almost caused me and her to collide.

However that didn’t seem to bother her as it did me. She yelped and clapped her hands in delight. “Oh I have a wonderful plan!” She announced it suddenly and dragged me with her.

“What plan?” I asked in doubt, unsure of her intentions.

“Oh don’t you worry.” She shoved me inside carefully and shut the door, sprinting to her closet. She threw the double lid door open and displayed her varieties of clothes.

Before I could ask her the plan she dangled a white gown to my face grinning. “My plan? Is to make you so damn gorgeous that all eyes will be on you, all!”

The grin splitting her face was hard to not reciprocate and I found myself smiling and a small wicked hope bubbled within me that convinced me that I could maybe just survive here, maybe.

It was night for the after party of the event. The event that set me as a target to all KYREOSIS PREP elite students.

Regardless of the turn of events or how bad my day was ruined, my entire focus was on the glamour Wren had decided to turn me into.

With her help, I wiggled my way into the red body con dress. The dress possessed a high slit and my back was bare left for the covering of my ass. I used a boob tape and my hair was curled and made to dangle behind me while she purposely brought some to the front, doing waves with them.

She opened her box of jewellery and adorned my ears and neck with a matching set as well as my wrist.

When she was done, she guided me to the long length and I couldn’t help the gasp that escaped my lips at sighting myself in the mirror.

I was……. Stunning.

Staring at what I suppose was myself, I saw Wren smile from satisfaction.

“Now that’s what I’m talking about. Jaw fucking dropping!” She drew from behind me.

She took my arms and guided me to the after party. She wore a black long gown with gloves. Looking all like a black swan.

All eyes unsurprisingly were all on me. She squeezed my hands and muttered, “fuck them!” And I grinned.

Thirty minutes into the party, she ditched me to get some drinks. Wren was good at masking her emotions with a good hyper smile. It worried me greatly as she never really spoke about what happened with her boyfriend and I didn’t want to prod either so I let her do her.

For the meantime, I entertained myself with the interior decor they did in the hall. By impulsiveness, I found my eyes scanning for some set of people and then my eyes darted to the clock. Forty five minutes now and Wren wasn’t back.

I got worried and went in search of her also because I wanted to get out of here. Being the centre of attention in this sort of situation wasn’t really ideal to me.

They didn’t hide the look in their eyes nor whisper. When I caught no sight of Wren I walked in the direction of a dark hallway. Some place I could hide the night away.

I heard moans coming from far within and moved against my will. My legs moved in sheer curiosity towards the sound.

As I got closer, the moans increased, spiking my curiosity even more. Whomever it was didn’t want to get caught considering how deep in the dark they had to go to make out. Another important fact was that I was already hated in this school and I should turn back and not add to it. Yet, regardless of all the reasons, I still moved.

The moans led all the way into the basement and I followed.

I couldn't believe my eyes. It was Ryan.

The lady cried out in pleasure and in pain. I head knocked against the wall but she didn't seem to care. Ryan was merciless, pumping against her, holding her knees, keeping them wide apart. I felt a burning feeling of jealousy just at the sight of him on another woman. And I hated it!

But who was she?

She continued climaxing, and then he was thrusting past her lips. She gasped. He went deeper, emptying himself. Strangely, there was no sign of spent passion on his features.

The lady finally turned, revealing her face.

My eyes bulged out of its socket and my jaw dropped to the ground at the abominable and scandalous sight.

I felt the piercing of terror. For a while I stood and gaped wide-eyed like a fish, frozen in shock and they didn’t seem to notice my presence. Not until I moved back and something fell down on the ground.

My eyes came one on one with his and I felt my heart twist with pain. So sharp that my wolf whimpered for seeing her mate with——-

“Ru——“

I didn’t stay for him to complete his statement before I sprinted back to the party. My soul anywhere but in my body.

I was panting as I arrived at the party looking for Wren. She was drinking, holding a bottle of wine in one hand and a glass.

“Wren, Wren, we have to go.”

“Oh, Evelynyyy,” she drawled my name, “the one beautiful Evelyn, c’mon. Drink with me.” She offered me a glass and I refused.

“We have to get out of here,” I insisted but she gulped down on the bottle of wine as she shook her head.

I snapped my head in the direction of the hallway and heard approaching footsteps. Immediately, I gathered my dress and dashed towards the exit.

Kicking the door open, I kicked my heels away as I ran into the moonlight. The moon rays casting light to my path.

Soon enough I heard the footsteps increase behind me and I ran even faster. My mind beckons me to run faster, to go harder.

My chest hurts. He cheated even after finding me. And with her?

Fear, anger, sadness fueled me and I sprinted deep into the woods. Falling down, I slid down the hill and my back collided with the back trunk of a tree.

With a feisty bolt of fury, I saw him approaching, running like a leopard and I instantly shot to my feet and continued on my spree.

But soon enough I came to an end road, the end of a fucking cliff.

I dropped to the ground with a thud and sobbed. Catching a glimpse of his feature I stood up watching as he stepped out from the shadows like the predator he was.

“What did you see?” Ryan demanded angrily and I backed away.

“Nothing, I swear I saw nothing,” I said.

“What did you see?” He demanded even more furiously and I shrieked, jumping from my skin.

“Please I’m sorry, I won’t tell anyone. I swear it! I won’t!” I pleaded but it fell on deaf ears

He took a step forward and stared back at the cliff behind me and the ocean. Fear dripped from my skin and I begged.

“You never should have come here. You don’t belong here!” He yelled angrily, veins glistening in his head. His eyes glowed in the dark and my knees buckled.

“Ever since you came here you have been nothing but a disaster! You make me so fucking angry! So, fuck!” He let out a primal scream and his expression darkened.

“I swear it Ryan, I won’t say a word to a soul,” I promised, moving away from him and standing on the ledge.

His smirk became deadly, “you won’t because you won’t be alive to tell it. Dead people can tell a tale.” He started and closed the space between.

A loud animalistic scream tore from me as I lost balance, falling from the cliff. I shouted and fought to hold onto anything but found none.

Before my back collided with the ocean, I saw his eyes; empty and void of any emotions. Cold like this water and then I blacked out.
