LUCIAN SLADE

The pack did not sleep that night.

I could feel it through the ground, through the walls of the pack house, through the restless pulse of wolves pacing, whispering, arguing. Fear had a sound. It was low and constant, like a drumbeat beneath everything else.

Rogues had crossed our borders and lived long enough to leave me bleeding in the forest.
