Chapter 3

Lylah POV

While wandering through the courtyard, deep in contemplation, I was surprised by Ashton's sudden appearance, holding a flower.

"Hey uhmm, mind if we can talk?" He asked.

I paused, unsure how to interpret this abrupt change in behavior. Ashton's expression seemed sincere, prompting me to nod in agreement.

"Look I understand that you might see me as a bad person, but I want to assure you that all act of bullying would be dropped."

I was still on high alert, but his words resonated with me. Perhaps, only perhaps, he was truly apologetic.

However, before I could reply, Kaius suddenly showed up, his eyes filled with fury.

He growled at Ashton, asking, "What is it that you're up to?" His voice was low and filled with threat.

Ashton remained firm, his gaze fixed on me. "I'm saying sorry for how I acted, Kaius. Something you should have done."

Kaius's expression turned grim as he clenched his fists. "Do you believe that a mere apology can compensate for all that has happened? You are suffering from delusions, Ashton."

There was a noticeable tension between them as they locked eyes in a heated stare-off. I felt like an outsider, trapped in the midst of their sibling competition.

Kaius jeered at Ashton to stop attempting to make a good impression on her. "You are not deceiving anyone."

Ashton blushed, his eyes filled with fury. "I am making an effort to apologize, Kaius. You're simply too stubborn to acknowledge your faults."

The atmosphere was tense, their words lingered as if daring each other. I was aware that I needed to step in before the situation worsened.

"Hey, cut it out, you two," I said in a calm yet firm tone. "This is not the appropriate time or location for this."

Kaius glanced at me, squinting his eyes. However, Ashton's demeanor became gentler as he displayed true regret in his eyes.

"Listen to me Kaius, I know your plan is to take her for selfish reasons, but I can assure you that you won't be having her, mark my word." Ashton finalized and left

I stared at the direction he moved through, my thoughts fixed on what he had said before he left. Did Kaius actually loved me for a certain reason? Were his feelings genuine?

"So you will be coming to the pack mansion for the project yeah?" He asked, seeing Ashton was gone.

"Sure, I just need to get something from my house." I assured and he nodded, while leaving the premises.

Whatever they were talking about back then had me really curious. I could only hope that it wasn't deterimenral to me.

As I made my way home, I stumbled upon Malaki who for some reason had a goofy smile on his face.

"Need a walk home?" He asked with a smile on his face

"Sure." I replied.

While walking home from school with Malaki, I felt a reassuring presence beside me. I found him approachable and his relaxed attitude made me feel comfortable.

However, Kaius's abrupt appearance disturbed our tranquil stroll. Anger filled his eyes as his face contorted in a scowl.

"What is this madness, Malaki?" he snarled, speaking in a gruff and threatening tone.

Malaki remained firm, his gaze fixed on Kaius. "I am accompanying Lylah back to her house, Kaius. You should be in the pack mansion, what are you doing here?"

Kaius's face turned red as he clenched his fists. "Do you believe you can replace me? Do you believe you can simply stroll in and take what belongs to me?"

I was overcome with fear, my heart beating rapidly. Malaki kept his gaze fixed on Kaius's face, his expression unwavering.

"I don't intend to deprive you of anything, Kaius. I am simply assisting Lylah in getting back to her home securely."

However, Kaius refused to heed. He moved closer, his eyes filled with fiery rage. Malaki remained firm, refusing to give in.

Right when it appeared things were going to get worse, a loud horn suddenly went off, causing all of us to startle. Alpha NightWalker's vehicle pulled alongside us, the window rolling down to expose his serious expression.

"Stop!" he bellowed, his voice authoritative. "Kaius, step back. Malaki, stop bothering Lylah. You don't need to worry about her."

Malaki glanced at me, showing a slight apology in his eyes. However, Kaius's rage did not fade away, his gaze remaining fixed on me with a possessive intensity.

Alpha NightWalker's stern face emerged as the car door was opened. "Lylah, hop in You're coming with me."

I paused, feeling uncertain about my next move. Malaki's subtle nod urged me to proceed. As we drove away, I experienced a blend of relief and unease after the intense stare-off with the brothers while getting into the car.

When we arrived at the pack mansion, the pack soldiers ushered me into the dinning table. The Alpha sat down, his gaze not leaving me.

"So you are the one that is mated to my sons huh?" He asked with so much curiosity in his eyes. "Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't allow Omegas around my mansion, but I will want to see you around because you would serve a great purpose."

I couldn't make out what he was talking about. The dishes would be served some minutes later and while I dived into the meal given to me, I noticed the Alpha's gaze was still on me.

"So tell me, what makes you so special that the moon goddess would decide that you will be mated to my sons?"

For a moment I was lost with the question, as I had been caught off guard. I searched for words, but they were not forthcoming.

"I see you have something on your neck, what is that piece?" The Alpha asks yet again, seeing I hadn't responded to his first question.

I pulled off the pendant that had been given to me by my mother and handed it over to him.

The Alpha's expression was ofilled with shock. He looked at the pendant and then back at me.

"Who gave you this?" He asked with a growl underneath his tone.

"It's a gift from my mother." I confessed.

"No, it can't be! Soldiers! Come and get this girl out of my sight!" For a moment I was confused by his sudden outburst.

As the soldiers step forward to user me out of the pack mansion, I noticed the Alpha had taken the pendant and stepped out of the dinning table. Whatever he had seen was related to that pendant on his hand and this raised my curiosity even higher.
