Telling our families was supposed to be the easy part.

That’s what Rhett said that morning when we sat side by side on the couch, both of us holding mugs we hadn’t touched. He said it like someone trying to convince himself as much as me. “They’ll be surprised, sure,” he murmured, “but they’ll come around.”
