I froze when I saw the terror on her face. Slowly, I released her, trying to tame the sudden blood lust that had surged inside of me. I didn't want her to think I was a rabid dog. It was bad enough that she'd arrived when my phantom pain had kicked in.

Swallowing hard, I turned away from her, ignoring the shards digging into my feet.
