They left another one today. A single gold lily drenched in perfume and wrapped in black silk, with a sigil scorched into the stem. It was always placed right at our door, as though announcing their sickening devotion. I didn't even flinch anymore whenever I saw them. I'd just burn them. Every single time.

And still, they came.

The doorbell never rang. We never hear the footsteps either. The lilies just kept appearing.
