At work on Friday, the air is the same as usual, the city’s buzz, horns, and a weight of secrets sitting on my ribcage. The most recent anonymous note in my purse, Jason’s drunken flirting with me at the gala and his cryptic advice to “learn the rules” contrasts with the image of him handing a briefcase to Victor Crane in the City Park.
