It felt so satisfying—so damn satisfying—watching Xavier tear Melissa down like that. For once, he didn’t look at her with those eyes full of love and pity. For once, he didn’t defend her or give her space to explain herself. He cut her off. He slammed the door in her face.

I swear, in that moment, I felt like I could finally breathe so well again.
