Chapter 3

BETRAYED

RILEY

I kept laying on the bed even after Henry had gone, not until after twenty minutes I heard a knock on my door and before I could ask who it was; Lisa made her way in.

I was so happy to see her at this point. "Hey R, are you feeling much better?" Lisa came up to me and sat on the bed.

"You are still wearing your dress. You should take it off immediately, I know how uncomfortable you are in it." Lisa said and tried to help unzip my dress. I couldn't help but engulf her in a tight hug. Lisa was the only one I could trust now. After the death of my parents I have only trusted her and Henry but Henry has decided to disappoint me.

"R dear, it's going to be fine. I understand you are really hurt right now but I know you will be better soon."

"He has decided to keep her in our pack. I couldn't do anything about it. If I keep refusing, the pack will consider me as being heartless." I said, still holding on to Lisa.

"I understand R, it's good this way and no matter what happens, I will surely be there for you."

I immediately regained myself, it's not going to be easy to face everyone after this but I just have to carry on. I have lost Henry and I'm not ready to lose myself in the process.

"I'm fine," I said and I decided to turn my back so that Lisa could help me with my zip.

"Do you know where Stella could be?" I asked Lisa because it's unlike Stella not to check up on me this morning and ask me what I will have for breakfast.

"R, I think you should probably find another maid for yourself because Stella can't be your maid again." Lisa responded with a sad look on her face.

"But why... Why do you say so?" I asked her but before she could respond, I put on something immediately and stepped outside to check things out myself.

I needed to know what Stella was up to and why Lisa said what she said.

I saw Stella and I noticed she was busy. She couldn't even look at me but I'm sure she saw me standing by the kitchen.

"Stella," I called out to her and she immediately turned and came to meet me.

"I'm sorry ma'am but the Luna made me do it." She said with her head low.

"Ma'am?... When did you start calling me that and by the way who did you call Luna." I asked her, feeling so shocked at her words.

"Luna Sophie really needs me right now and has warned that I only serve her or lose my job. I'm so sorry." She bowed her head and left.

This was really serious. It hasn't been up to 24 hours since she got here and she has already made herself the Luna. Was Henry aware of this? Well it doesn't matter anymore because he doesn't care about me.

I was really suffocating and with the gossip flying here and there, everyone kept looking at me as a stranger. I decided to go out for some fresh air. I decided to run on my feet before my wolf takes its shape. My wolf Kira has not spoken to me since yesterday. I noticed she never liked Henry but I was adamant on being with him and now I was humiliated and she decided to go mute proving that she was angry with me.

I was so strong and likewise my wolf but I didn't know exactly where I was running to. I just wanted to be away from home for a while. I came across a cool spot and changed back then sat on a huge stone and started to think about my life and what plan I should take. I didn't know what to do. I wasn't married to Henry so therefore I'm considered nothing in his life.

But no matter what I will try my best to save Lisa from the troubles that will befall the pack because I can't bear to lose her. She wasn't really strong like me and never knew who her parents were. I took her like a sister I never had and ever since then we have been very close. After a while I felt a very strong presence which was obviously not Henry's and I realized I was not alone but for some reason I was drawn to this strong presence. I looked around and I saw a huge wolf standing by the trees. I knew that I was in danger or perhaps safety. I turned my back immediately and started running back home.

I finally reached and found my clothes where I had left them. I put them on immediately before anyone could see me.

I turned and noticed Lisa and Clinton heading towards me.

"Where have you been R?" Lisa asked with so much concern on her face. I know that she would be worried about me.

"I just went for a run," I responded to her with a smile on my face.

"Come on R you would have told me and I kept looking for you everywhere in the house." Lisa said not finding my smile funny.

"I'm sorry Li," I said while I heard my two ears like the Indians would do so when trying to apologize.

"Hey Clinton," I said, I totally forgot that he was actually standing here with Li.

"Hope you're good Riley," Clinton asked, trying to check my expression on my face.

How can I deal with all of these happening. "Of course I am." I lied. I had wanted to relate to them what I saw but I decided not to, at least not now.

We all started going in together. I noticed a sad look on Clinton's face and for a second I knew he was thinking about something he has decided to keep to himself.

"Alright ladies, I will leave you two." Clinton said and then walked away.

"Li, do you think that Clinton knows about Henry's mate since before now." I asked Lisa as we made our way to my room.

"Of course, why not. He is his beta so it's right that he knows everything." Lisa responded and obviously she was right.

On our way to my room, I encountered Sophie, I didn't need to be told that she was the one because she's the only new person here at Silver moon pack.

We didn't say a word to each other and I noticed how Lisa kept looking at her with disgust waiting for her to strike so that she would deal with her; instead Sophie flipped her hair wanting me to see it.

Henry's mark, visible on her neck.
