Chapter 2

I couldn’t sleep with this anxious feeling, even though Alpha Romeo seemed to want me to be comfortable while staying in his mansion.

This room was like a hotel suite. Soft bed, leather sofa, and comfortable bathroom. I didn’t have to worry about running out of towels.

All the clothes in the closet fit my body. Maybe they thought all women had bodies like mine.

The thought made me shudder. It seemed that Alpha Romeo had a female bed partner before, and then the woman used to stay in this room. So, where is the woman?

Stupid question. Of course, Alpha Romeo kicked the woman out of his house after he got tired of her, and I would be like that woman.

My assumption was based on a true story. When I worked at Alpha Johannes’ house, I saw it with my own eyes.

“Lyssera.”

I gasped in surprise when a knock on the door and a woman’s voice called out to me.

“We'll have breakfast after Alpha.” The head omega said as I opened the door and locked eyes with her. “Go to the back garden. I won't tell you anymore.”

“Thank you for letting me know.” I nodded and smiled. I hoped my face didn’t look scary. It had been a long time since I smiled.

The omegas were doing their jobs. They seemed to be about my age.

I approached them, but they backed away as if I were a deadly disease.

Confusion struck me. I scanned the mansion, which suddenly felt cold and quiet, as if I were the only one there.

I knew immediately that a place this big, with so many people, would not keep me from the nightmare.

Alpha Romeo came down the stairs. His aura as a cruel leader froze me, but my heart was beating like it would explode. I looked down as he passed me and walked towards the dining room.

My mouth refused to open to ask him why he bought me.

Standing a few steps away from me, the head omega glared at me sharply and was ready to throw the duster at me. I hurriedly went to the garden behind the house.

They were werewolves. None of them liked rogues. We were marginalized.

“Breakfast time.” An omega wearing a white headband ran over to everyone, including me, who was daydreaming in front of sunflowers.

The omegas who worked at Alpha Romeo’s house lived in a building dozens of yards behind it. They cooked their own food in a small kitchen, and we sat on the floor to eat.

No one spoke during the meal.

The atmosphere was warm. They were like a big family. I knew I could never be a part of them.

After breakfast, I listened to them tell stories, but I couldn't laugh, either because their sense of humor was lame or because I missed a lot of news.

I felt like someone who had spent decades in a cave before deciding to live a normal life.

“Alpha Romeo is waiting for you in his office.” The head omega suddenly patted my shoulder and whispered.

My eyes widened, and my heartbeat increased sharply. I felt like I had no control over my body.

I took a breath and exhaled. After regaining some composure, I walked towards Alpha Romeo's office. I was determined to find out why he had bought me.

Alpha Romeo sat on a single black leather sofa. The look in his eyes and the expression on his face told me he had complete control over my life.

“Sit down.” His voice even made my body tremble with anxiety.

I sat on the black leather sofa on his right side. Alpha Romeo didn’t move from his seat, but I felt the pressure as if he was locking me in this room.

“Look me in the eye. I’m talking to you.”

I looked him in the eye before he snapped at me.

“I won’t make you my slave,” Alpha Romeo said as he stroked the edge of the paper in his hand twice, and I could see the sadness in his eyes for a moment. “I will make you my mate.”

I nearly had a heart attack. It felt like the Grim Reaper had taken my soul for a few seconds.

“I’m serious.” Alpha Romeo handed me two sheets of paper. "The marriage contract will bind us, and you can add things that we will and will not do." He also handed me a pen.

My eyes bulged as if they were going to pop out. I couldn't believe what was happening to me.

My hands spontaneously pinched my cheeks. I wasn't dreaming.

"I'm a rogue. You're an Alpha werewolf." I was even surprised that I could say that out loud. Where did that courage come from?

"I'm aware of that." Alpha Romeo nodded.

"You can ask a female werewolf to be your pretend mate," I whispered in a trembling voice, but he could hear me.

"I want to do it with you. Someone who has no ties," Alpha Romeo said without showing any shame.

“What if other people find out you bought me at the auction?” I asked sadly.

“They won’t.” Alpha Romeo said confidently. “You don’t have to worry about that.”

“Why me?” I forgot that Alpha Romeo was following in the footsteps of the late Alpha Cassian, who was feared by many around the world.

Alpha Romeo's expression was threatening. I had already made him lose patience. "Hurry up and sign the marriage contract. I never offered you a choice."

I had difficulty swallowing, and cold sweat soaked my hands. My fingers could barely hold the pen. It felt like writing my own death warrant.

“Good girl.” Alpha Romeo folded the two pieces of paper and put them in his wallet.

Moon Goddess. I haven’t written anything on the marriage contract because my head suddenly couldn’t think.

I didn’t even read the contract, but I know that whatever was written on those two pieces of paper would change my life.

That's why I was shocked when Alpha Romeo introduced me in front of his members.

“You are my mate. Don’t ever betray me.” His gaze pierced me, and the touch of his rough hand on my cheek was colder than the autumn wind.

That wasn’t a declaration of love. It was a death threat, and I didn’t know how long I could last.
