Chapter 4

Vaughan’s POV

The bell rang indicating school was over and I let out a silent breath. I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder, walking out with Xander and Asher trailing behind me at a fast pace. They were lost in their conversation while I put on my hoodie and dug my hands into my pockets. We stepped out of the building and I could spot a Rolls Royce and two SUVs parked making a snarl escape my lips. I hated rich people even though I was one. I knew I hardly showed off, but I still despised them. When mum died, she took her riches away with her leaving me in that death trap with my father.

“Dude, we've gotta go” Xander told me and I nodded, not caring to look back. They really tried as friends but I just needed space. I heard a cab drive away and I knew it was them. I stroked on the streets passing several cafés and restaurants and my belly rumbled silently indicating I hadn't eaten all day. I turned into a dark alley leading to my house and hung my head low saying silent thoughts in my head. I instantly began feeling someone was following me. The person was quite good because I heard no footsteps but I still had instincts. I spun around ina flick motion gripping the invader’s neck and slammed the person to the wall. The invader was, Scarlet?

“ What are you doing?” I asked venom laced in my tone. She looked stunned that I could pin her. Pfft.

“Just came to say hi” She said with a shrug. I pushed her further into the wall making her shut her eyes. She looked vulnerable and innocent like this.

“Well, stay away from me!” I said in a menacing voice while she fixed her gaze on me. Her eyes seemed tobsearch mine making me feel uncomfortable. I hated people figuring me out.

“Why are you isolating yourself?” She asked. Her question threw me aback for a split of second, but I quickly composed myself.

“It's none of your fucking business. So go mind yours and stay away from me” I told her with fury and finally released my grip from her neck and turned to leave but she gripped my shoulder and I snapped around pushing her back from her shoulder. I pinned her to the wall and she struggled to free loose. She seemed angered by the fact that I was in possession here.

“Don't you fuckin touch me again” I scowled and she let out a dry laugh. “And who do you think you are to have me orders?” She snapped and my eyes blazed in fury.

“ You've really got guts, have you?” I said in a mocking tone, my gaze flicking to her exposed neck. She had fine skin.

“Stop looking at me, you jerk” She bit out making me grit my teeth in anger.

“Don't you ever touch me or speak to me ever again. Just stay away from me” I warned her and acted to punch her making her shut her eyes tightly.

Scarlet's POV

After realising I wasn't getting a punch after all, I gently opened my eyes to see he was gone. Just like that. Into thin air. What a weirdo. The fact that I let him pin me angered me to throw brim. I'd never let anyone take advantage of me before. He touched me And I assured Ellen I wouldn't let him lay a finger on me. I couldn't believe how vulnerable he made me feel.

I could feel my heart thudding at our close proximity. What the hell was the meaning of that? He fuckin pinned me to the walk. No-one pins “me” to the wall. He was so fast I didn't even see it coming. I'd never seen anyone that fast. I walked into the dark alley and got Into the parked Rolls Royce.

“Lets go” I said curtly and Jones didn't hesitate to drive away. One thing was for sure. I would corner him again and this time, I'll be in charge.

******** *********** *********** ************ **************

I got in the mansion and dumped my bag on the floor and headed directly to my room.

“What a day” I exhaledas I plopped down on my room cushion. The curtains were shut, as usual. The room Just had a warm feeling which I really liked. I swept my hand through my hair and drew out a breathe in annoyance. I'd have to face those crazy people without Jones’ help. Not like I depended on him, but he did most of the work for me since I was a kid. I looked over my mom's photo and sighed softly.

She was so light spirited and giddy. Always ecstatic about everything and her smile filled the air. I remember watching dad steal kisses from her every dime minute like he couldn't live without a kiss from her. Would that ever be my fate? Why am I even thinking about that? I don't need a guy or man to make me feel good about myself.

My family changed the day she had an accident and dad remarried sp quickly like it didn't have a toll on him. That's what caused me to be this way and I don't regret it one bit. A soft knock landed kn my door making me grian loudly . I needed peace.

“Who the hell is it,” I asked rudely.

“Ma'am, I want to bring your lunch” I heard my personal maid, Miranda replied softly against the door. “ Come in” I said curtly getting up from my cushion. The door lightly opened and she walked in with a tray of my favorite Mac and cheese.

“ Thanks” I told her in a lower tone as I got the tray from her grip and set it on my lap. I picked up my fork and began eating while she stood waiting for me to finish up. A normal thing she has been doing since she became my personal maid and I didn't really bother.

“Do you like it?” She asked nervously, making me look up at her.

“Sure”, I replied slowly observing her reaction. She looked pleased, so I shrugged it off and enjoyed my meal.

“Your mother said she wants to have a really important discussion with you tonight”, she informed me and I instantly glared at my food like it was my mother.

“ She is not my mom”. I said through gritted teeth. I hated addressing her as my mother even if I had to.

“ I'm sorry ma'am. I didn't mean to upset you”, She apologize rather quickly. “Stop being weak, Miranda. I'm fine”. I told her sharply immediately losing appetite.

“Make my bathtub with a warm spring”, I told her and she hurried a way to the bathroom. I took off my jacket and my shirt then took off my jeans, standing only in my underwears. I walked to my full length mirror and looked at myself. I shifted my hair from a part of my neck exposing my small star tattoo which people hardly notice.

I had a finer tattoo on my flat belly, it was a butterfly tattoo. My belly and my hips were the part of my body I mostly liked. Then there was my eyes, my hair and other parts. My breast were…… not bad. Just fulll and normal. I don't know why I'm thinking about all this but I don't really care. I rose my hair to a bun and walked to my closet then took out a black fluffy towel. I unclipped my bra and took off my other thing, then wrapped my towel around my body.

“Ma'am, your spring bath is ready”. Miranda told me from the bath room door. I nodded and walked into my bathroom, walking towards my wide bathtub. I took off my towel and gently got into the warm bath. I sunk in the warm water shutting my eyes and relaxing completely.

Vaughan’s POV

The sight of the ugly house already sent me scowling. This place gave me the silent creeps. I wonder what I am still doing here. I advanced to take a step forward when I felt a pair of little hands wrap around my leg. I looked down to see my neighbor's daughter, Lola. I instantly crouched down to her height, with a smile letting her touch my hair as usual

“Vee, You're back”, She said so brightly making me return the smile. “Yeah, I'm back teddy and look what I got you”. I dug my hand into my hoodie pocket bringing out a candy bar. She beamed widely And flung her small arms around my neck making me chuckle lightly. She was the only reason I was still here. I could do anything for her.She was just four years but was so damn cute.

“Lola”, We both looked over to see her mum standing at their front porch with a disgusted look on her face. “Come here right now”.
