Scarlet's POV
I was glad I finally got him pinned down where I wanted. He thought he could pin me to a wall and go scot free. Well, he's dead wrong. I only wished Ellen were here to see my encounter with Mr Ice. My happiness was cut short when he easily swapped positions somehow and pinned my two hands to the ground, keeping his leg on my crossed legs. I struggle to free loose but his grip was surprisingly very strong
“What were you trying to do?” He asked with a scowl. I glared at him and kept my lips in a thin line.
“Get the fuck off me” I snapped still attempting to free loose but my attempts were proved futile.
“Don't you understand the meaning of stay away from me?” He bit back.
“You should know by now I don't take orders from anyone” I retorted with a snark still trying to get his grip.
“Stay away from me, Scarlet” He said, his voice menacing and full of venom and anger. But the only thing my brain could process was the way my name rolled out of his tongue. It sounded so hot, so perfect. That's when I noticed my breathing pattern had changed and my heart race was quickening for a weird reason. Was it because of him? Pfft, ‘course not.
“Get off me”. I struggled again but he didn't budge. His eyes were fixed on my face. I could feel my throat slowly turning dry as his eyes scanned my face. I felt exposed under his eyes like I wasn't having any clothes on. It made me feel things I didn't want to feel.
I said get off me” I seethed with a hard glare and he shot me a vicious look.
“Y - -” He started but I cut him off.
“Dude, we’re in the middle of the field laying on the grass” I said almost in a groan. He blinked in realisation and instantly got off me to my utmost belief. I got up dusting the back of my jeans and t-shirt.
"What's your problem? " I half yelled but he was already backing me, advancing to walk away.
"Stay away from me, Scarlet" He said menacingly before walking off.
************ ********** *********** ***********
“Where have you been?” Ellen asked me when she caught up with me in the hallway.
“ I was at a cafe outta school” I replied bluntly heading towards my locker.
“ I didn’t see you after the break” She continued and I clenched my fist in annoyance.
“I wrote the essay for you,” I told her , abruptly changing the subject matter. “ Really? She asked with a stunned expression. I opened my locker and took out a paper from my textbook and handed it to her. Her face lit up instantly when she read it in a flash.
“ Thank you so much” She gushed and embraced me. I was taken aback for a second because I don't really do hugs but I could feel how happy and excited she was, making me hug her back.
“ Wanna come over to my place after school?” She asked when I pulled away.
“Sure” I replied with a shrug, seeing no harm in doing so. Besides, she was my friend after all. It surprisingly felt good to admit she was actually my friend.
“ What're you having now?” She asked me and I locked over my schedule glued to my locker.
“English,” I answered, taking out my textbook. I may be nonchalant and somewhat badass atimes but I don't joke with English and Calculus. Those were my favs.
“ Me too, let's go” She told me and I hooked my arm with mine, leading to the class. We stopped at the door and she opened it to a lousy classroom. There were papers here and there. My face scrunched to detest and annoyance and like a flick all their eyes were on us and they were mute.
I would have said “weird” but I think we all know why they did that. We found our way to the back seat and sat while I leaned casually on my chair with folded arms. Ellen seemed to busy herself with her phone while my eyes wavered at the classroom looking for no one in particular. Okay maybe I was just checking if he was here. No bigs there.
“Cherry is hosting a party at her mansion and I'm invited?” Ellen said hesitantly, staring at her phone. I peered over to see the message sent to her. By the looks of it, everyone had smiles on their faces, the noises coming back to life.
“And it's holding this friday” Ellen continued, still staring at her phone-in disbelief. I rolled my eyes and plugged in my earpods. I let the loud music fill my ears blocking out every voice but only one word got my ears ringing.
“ You're invited,” Ellen said excitedly. I took off my pods and I looked at her to see she was holding two phones which apparently belonged to me.
“Let me see that” I told her, my face blank of any expression as I got my phone from her. I looked at the screen in total annoyance before tossing it back in my locker.
“I don't know how that maniac got my number but remind me to change my phone today” I told her.
“What?” She asked in confusion. “Long story cut short, I'm not going” I said plainly and she gasped, making me roll my eyes.
“Why not? Cherry's parties are always the coolest in school and this is the first time I've where heen invited” she inquired.
“ You can go alone,” I said plainly, taking out my jot. “Please Scar, I can't possibly go alone. I'd be so singled” she said, slightly puckering her face like she wanted to cry.
Dang it, can't resist that. “Fine” I agreed with a bluff she squealed in happiness.
“This is awesome. We could go shopping later for our dress and shoes” she said, staring into space like she'd already planned everything.
“It's just one party, Ellen” I breathed out, surprised at how happy she was.
“Still, we have to look our best as possible”. She interjected and I just had to smile lightly.
“Fine. We could go shopping tomorrow after school while we go over to your place today” I concluded and she nodded in agreement. The door opened and Mrs. Rose rushed in, making a smile curl to my lips. She was the only teacher I really respected around here.
“ Let's get to work,” She said apprehensively.
************* *************** ****************
I walked out of the building easily spotting the parked Rolls Royce and Jones leaning casually against the car. I motioned at Ellen and she stood beside me walking with me to the car. We got to the car and got in while Jones got in and drove out of the parking lot.
“So I see you like Mrs Rose,” Ellen said, breaking the usual car silence. “She's just a cool person” I replied with a shrug taking out my phone from my Jean pocket.
“You seemed to enjoy English class” she inquired, making me look over at her.
“There's nothing not to enjoy in English class” I told her, fixing my gaze back at my phone.
“Where's the street again Miss?” Jones asked in his signature calm tone.
“Lane Street, No.28” Ellen answered him and he made a swift turn. A message popped on my screen and I tapped with furrowed brows.
“Stay away from him
and get out of the game.
You'll regret it if you don't….??”
A frown ceased to my face instantly and I could feel Ellen's eyes on the side of my face. I deleted the message and placed my phone back in my Jean pocket.
“Is anything wrong?. You looked angry as you stared at your phone” Ellen asked, concern laced in her voice
Of course I was angry and I still am. Who the hell would send me such a lowlife threat. “Nothing I can't take care of” I replied to her icily, glaring out the window.
She took the hint and kept mute to my relief. I need time and space to think. Whoever that sent me that dumb message had to be really bold to do that if he knew the phone owner. I really need to buy a new phone. First it was Cherry inviting me for her dumb party, now it's a maniac sending me a threat.
“Jones, please stop by the nearest apple store” I instructed and he nodded, turning swiftly.
