Kaida's POV
With the crown traditionally on my head, I sat on the throne for the first time. The bliss and fulfillment that came with that were unmatched.
"Henceforth, you aren't just the Kaida we saw growing up, you are now the Luna of the Shadow Pack. The Luna Kaida! Anyone who cares to address you otherwise deserves his or her head separated from his or her entire being. The moon goddess had ordained this and so shall it be!" The priestess muttered to everyone's hearing.
And the moment the head sword was handed to me, everyone bowed their head in respect and honor.
This was the moment!
I nodded my head and permitted them to stand. Henceforth, I will never be the little Kaida they knew and probably looked down on; I will be Luna Kaida, whom they will look up to for even the toughest battle.
After the entire tradition was done, I got up to give a speech. "This was a quick one everyone. I'm super grateful for the opportunity. Thank you so much for everything. For not giving up on me and for loving me to this point. The moon goddess has my deepest respect and I will forever adore my parents. Thank you, Beta Andrew, for passing the loyalty you had for my parents to me. And to you Rose, you know I will always love you. You left your family to be with me just because you didn't want to see me fall. I love you so much and I promise you that I will be everything but never a disappointment." I said staring at Rose. Her eyes were getting misty. It was clear that she had been waiting for this day for so long. "And to my pack members, the chiefs, you all matter to me a whole lot. Shadow Pack will be great again!" I assured them and everyone clapped. "Moving on, I have a special announcement to make myself. I already instructed the beta earlier and I'm sure he told y'all about it already. Ever since we lost my parents, this pack has been looked down upon and terrorized just to get reclaimed, and with your help in my unconscious state, you all managed to keep it alive. But I'm awake now so there will be new developments. Together, we will fight to restore the Pack's dominance, but we have to start from somewhere, and that's why I have chosen to start from our deepest enemy. Who is none other than the Darkwood Pack? They have bitten more than they could ever chew with us. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about so by moonlight today, we all will strike. Beta Andrew will provide you with everything you need to have and know. Get ready and upon my command, you better show them what you're made of." I ordered.
"As you command Luna!!!" They all responded and I could feel the shift in the air. It was as though my words had awakened something deep within them.
I left the ceremony when they were dining and was going to head into my room when I realized Rose was following me down the hallway. "Luna Kaida do you really want to do this? Aren't you worried about your heart? Don't tell me you have lost love for Alpha Ryker so soon." She said to me. Only she could dare call me by my name this time, but she didn't, and that surprised me.
"He's a betrayer. They don't deserve to be alive." I spat and she went quiet for a while.
"Betrayal? Did Beta Andrew also tell you that Alpha Ryker begged to care for you himself but was deprived of access?" She said to me and I paused.
"That's because he wanted me dead. Don't tell me you don't think they deserve to be washed away." I said to her and she looked up at me.
"I had watched him leave you in that terrible situation, but he did it with so much confidence as though you would be fine, and that's why I think hearing what he has to say will be a good move." She suggested and I shook my head.
"I don't think I can stand the sight of him anymore," I said, and stopped to look at her. "Let's train for some time; you know we have a lot to do by moonlight," I said to her and she nodded.
"I will follow your wish Luna Kaida!" She said, and together, we went to the field and trained for some time. The last time we trained together was during our childhood days, and now again, we were doing the same. It was a lot of fun for me, and when I finally went back to my room, I got into my bathtub instantly for a cool bath and fell asleep there.
A few hours later, I woke up only to realize that the warm water I was in had gone cold, so I quickly stepped out of the bathroom and got dressed for the war that would happen that night.
I looked at the clock when I was done and realized that it was 9 pm already. Taking a deep breath, I walked to my room balcony and stared at the moon that was slowly coming to its full glory.
Then I heard footsteps and turned to see who it was.
"Beta Andrew? What are you doing here?" I asked, rolling my eyes.
He bowed and stayed on the floor. "It's about the hour, and we, your people and the entire warriors are ready to strike upon your command. Luna Kaida, you don't have to do this revenge if the deepest part of you still yearns for Alpha Ryker. I care about your heart, too, and yes, he betrayed you; you can still swallow it. But if you want your revenge like you said, we will help you get it done to your satisfaction." He said that to me, and that only fueled my anger.
"I'm glad you know he betrayed me so stopping now will make no sense," I told him and turned to walk towards him. "You sounded like I still care about that monster. If it were you in my shoes, what would you have done?"
"I would have long destroyed them but I'm just a Beta and do not have much higher power than you." He told me.
"Well, I have this power for a good reason. It will be a shame not to make good use of it." I muttered and took a deep breath. Beta Andrew has no idea how more self-aware I just became. I had the power, so they all had to be destroyed.
"Since you have made up your mind, I will ask the most important questions, and your answer, either yes or no, will determine the fate of the Darkwood Pack tonight. Luna Kaida, we are ready to strike. Do we have your full permission to attack them?" He asked me, and my breath hitched for a second, and then I inhaled deeply. I knew there would be no further questions after this.
My eyes turned mean, and my face hardened. I raised my head in confidence and upon deciding in my mind, I stared at the moon. "Yes!!!"
