Chapter 5: Baby Steps

Tatiana's POV

It's been almost three weeks since the day I woke up in unfamiliar room with unfamiliar man.

Three weeks. . . I counted.

The days passed by so blurry in my mind. I can't even seem to remember what I did in those days aside from wanting to come home and missing my family.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror and immediately frowned when I saw how pale I looked now.

Well, for the record, I have very fair skin but I don't look this pale. I'm always so particular with how my skin looks like so I'm kind of p*ss*d that I looked this dull right now. I didn't just pay for skin aesthetic just to end up looking like this. And I'm more p*ss*d because I know the reason why my skin is not looking the best right now-- I haven't seen the sun for weeks. Not even a glimpse of ray of sunshine had touched my skin and I can only blame one person for that.

I sighed.

I can sulk here all I want but I know that he wouldn't let me leave this room. I'm so bored and I can't deny that my body is starting to get weak because of the lack of outdoor activities and lack of vitamin D.

I may not work full time before but my days are always so occupied with a lot of things-- things that includes going out and enjoying the outside world.

I heaved a deep sigh once again.

I'm starting to get really annoyed.

I looked at the clock and I counted a few minutes before the door opened-- like I expected.

A tall man with well-built physique entered the room with a tray full of food placed on his hand. He carried the heavy tray with ease-- like it weigh nothing at all.

7:30 in the morning is the time when Leon goes to my room and bring me breakfast. It's always 7:30. There were times when he would be late but only a few minutes past his usual time.

"Here's your food, have your breakfast," he said as he placed the food at the table in front of me.

"Did you cook these?" I asked when curiosity got the best of me.

He was hesitant to answer my question at first but he eventually did after a few seconds of silence. "My personal chef cooked the food. Do you want me to cook for you?"

I didn't answer and just started eating. I'm hungry and the pancakes looked divine.

Besides, I didn't ask that because I want him to cook for me-- I was just curious who prepares all these food because there are always a lot.

"I'll start learning how to cook for you, you just have to give me some time," he added to which I ignored once again.

Personal chef? So he has other people over at his house? Do they have an idea that there's someone in here he stripped off of freedom?

He sat down in front of me and started eating too.

This is his routine.

He would bring me breakfast and eat with me like as if we're some cute couple spending time with each other before the day starts.

"What do you want for lunch later?" he asked.

I didn't answer and just continued eating.

"I can't cook you lunch later yet," he added.

Still, I didn't answer. I want to eat my food in silence. I'm not a morning person so I don't have the energy to converse with him. And not like as if I'm a fan of having conversation with him. What are we even going to talk about? I don't know anything about him-- I literally don't know him.

"Adriana," he called when a few moments of silence passed.

I don't want to get more annoyed so I just answered a name of a restaurant that I missed eating in when I still have my old life.

This is what always happens when we have breakfast. He would try to talk to me about anything random and I would just eat my food in silence because clearly, I'm not comfortable.

"Are you done, darling?" he asked when I placed my utensils down to my plate.

I just nodded at him.

He went back to eating.

I stared at him.

At first look, he really doesn't look like he would do something so menacingly like this. He looked like a man of integrity. Every action that he makes seemed so calculated and formal. Not to mention that he looks so respectable too. Not only because he wears expensive things from head to toe but also because his aura just screams full authority. It's hard to believe that he can do something like this if you're not in my position.

He looks like he's not capable of doing something so despicable but then again, looks can be deceiving.

"Do you want anything else, darling?" he suddenly asked. He must have sensed me staring at him.

I shook my head at his question to which I immediately regret when I remembered something.

I waited for him to look at me again but he was now busy finishing the food on his plate.

I cleared my throat to get his attention but he didn't look up.

I mentally rolled my eyes.

Oh, I know what he's doing.

"Leon," I called his name giving him what he wants.

I saw how the corners of his lips rose and formed into a small smile.

I mentally rolled my eyes once again. He likes it when I call him by his name so he would do every little unnecessary thing just to make me do so.

"Yes, baby?"

I fought the urge to roll my eyes at him.

"I've been wanting to go to the beach," I spoke my mind which made him stop.

My heart started beating faster than normal inside my chest.

I really want nothing more than to go to the beach right now and I would be so disappointed if he won't let me.

"I've been in this room for weeks doing nothing. Can you see my skin? I look so dull and I don't like it. I want to tan."

Still, he didn't answer, he just stopped eating and put down his utensils.

"I'm sure you will stay me all the time when we go to the beach so I'm assuming it will be no problem," I added before he could open his mouth and disagree. I mean, that's literally the least thing that he could do for me after everything that he put me through.

Leon looked like he was really deep in his thought about what I just asked.

I secretly crossed my fingers hoping he would agree.

A few solid moments had passed before he whipped out his phone out of his pocket and dialed someone.

I just sit there in silence waiting for him to finish talking to whoever that is at the other end of the line.

"Yes. Do you know any island for sale?"

I bit the insides of my cheeks to stop myself from smiling.

Island for sale?

So that means he doesn't just agree with me going to the beach but he's also buying a whole island?

"A very private one. Yes, I'll purchase it." He ended the call.

"Do you want to go to the beach?" he asked.

I nodded, still suppressing the smile that's trying to come out from my mouth.

"I just bought you one," he said like it's not a big deal. Like he just didn't spend millions of dollars in a snap of fingers.

"Okay." I forced an emotionless face even though I'm already screaming in happiness inside.

I've always loved the sea. I have so much love for white sand, beautiful shells, and crashing waves so this trip means a lot to me considering I haven't gone inside for quiet a long time.

"I need swimsuits and sunglasses," I demanded, still trying to force my voice to sound nonchalant. "And some beach dresses and cover ups."

"What else?" he asked.

"A whole lot of face sunscreen and body spray sunscreen," I replied.

"Done."

~*~

"You're all set to go?" Leon asked when he entered my room.

I just changed into my sundress and finished packing my things.

"Yeah, can you carry my stuff?" I asked. I wouldn't have asked him if it's not heavy but it is. I don't want to hurt my arm.

"We will be back later at night," Leon said to which I immediately frowned upon.

"What?" I asked in disappointment. "This will be the first time that I'm going outside again. Can we stay at least a day or two?"

There's nothing I hate more than going to the beach and then going home immediately. I want to relax, I wouldn't be able to relax in just a few hours.

"You bought an entire private island. Can you at least let me enjoy it for a whole day and night?" I added immediately, making sure I put emphasis on the words private island.

"Alright, we can stay for as long as you want," he said that made me smile. First time in weeks that I smiled again.

I immediately notice how Leon's lips rose into a small smile too.

"Here, drink this water first," he suddenly offered me a glass of water.

I didn't even notice he was holding a glass of water when he came inside the room.

"It's hot outside and I don't want you to be dehydrated. It's important that you hydrate yourself first before going to the island."

I accepted the glass. Right, I need to drink something.

I drank the water, finishing the whole glass and the next thing I know I'm waking up in a villa with my head throbbing.

Where am I?

What happened?

"You're awake." A deep baritone voice filled my ears.

I automatically turned to my side and saw Leon sitting in the chair beside the bed where I was laying.

"Where am I?" I asked, my voice came out hoarse.

"We're at the island," he answered.

Already?

I don't remember anything other than drinking water.Did I teleport here? That's impossible.

I creased my eyebrows in confusion. "How?"

"You fell asleep on the way, darling," he simply replied.

My confusion grew bigger. I don't remember getting inside any vehicle and travelling.

The throbbing in my head already stopped but was replaced by my fast heartbeat upon realizing something.

I surely remember drinking water he gave me.

This can't be.

"Did you drug me?" I spit the words like poison.

Leon avoided my glare.

"It's just sleeping pills," he calmly said like it was no big deal.

I balled my hands into fist.

How dare he?!

"You're a monster," I spitted.

"I'm sorry, baby." He sighed. "It's for your own good."

"My own good?!" I yelled.

I'm trembling with anger but mostly disappointment.

He drugged me when he kidnapped me. Shameful for me to expect that he would let his guard down and let me see where he took me.

Of course, he wouldn't risk me knowing where he's hiding me. Of course, he wouldn't give me any idea in case I escape.

"You're a monster," I whispered. "I hate you!"

There was a flick of unreadable expression that crossed Leon's face upon hearing what I said.

"I'm so sorry, darling. I had no choice but to do that," he spoke, calmly.

I hate that he still remained calmed despite my outrage.

Ugh, I hate him so much!

And I hate it more that this just proves to me how much he has no intention of setting me free. He's really adamant in keeping me with him.

"Can you go out?" I laid down on my side. "I don't want to see you."

"Alright." I heard him sigh. "Just call me later if you want to go out and swim."

I closed my eyes and didn't answer.
