“Leave!” My voice thundered, sharp and low, carrying more fury than the walls could hold. The footsteps retreating told me he obeyed, but my chest still burned. Whoever dared this would pay with blood.

I turned back, my eyes locking on Isolde. Her face was pale, her lips trembled though she tried to stand strong.

“Who… who got murmured?” Her voice was steady, but the way it shook at the end pierced straight into me. Terror hid in her eyes.
