Elder Xandros didn’t say anything. Instead, his eyes fell to the box of chocolate resting on my lap.

Then he turned to me. “You’re still healing. Eating sweets might disrupt the process.”

I chuckled nervously under his scrutinizing gaze that no doubt was definitely judging me. He seemed even stricter than my father.
