I felt a little bit of Awakening in my bones and I decided to think about what I had done to warrant all of this.

It was supposed to have been done before anybody would be able to figure out that Ava's grandmother was trying to kill me.

She had been the one who had sent the hitman and I have just pretended like I didn't know so that I could not send Ava into some form of dilemma that she will not be able to come out of easily.
