AUTHOR’S POV

In an unknown pack, a woman lay on the bed, her body drenched in sweat. She turned once more, then her eyes snapped open as she clutched her chest, pain shooting through her like fire. The man who had been watching from the corner rushed to her side.

“I’m fine,” she said, trying to sit, her hand still pressed to her chest. “It’s just a relapse.”

The man’s face stayed tense, worry clouding his eyes.
