Aria lay sprawled on the grass, completely drained. Before she could gather her thoughts, Liam bent and scooped her into his arms.

She stiffened instantly. “Please don’t tell me you’re carrying me inside like this,” Aria said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Liam paused and looked down at her. “Why?”
