***Dimitri POV***
For over a century I've been hunting, taking and draining. But never have I come across a soul as pure as hers–now the time has come.
Everything was ready, the time was right…Anybody can give in,no matter how pure, they just need the right persuasion.
It was perfect.
Watching her sign the contract gave me relief.
She was the key to my freedom.
A corner of my mouth twitched. She didn’t look up. She had no idea she’d just undone everything.
So sank deep in range and revenge, she couldn't even read it.
Her signature was there already,no turning back now.
Blind to the fact that she just ended everything normal about her.
I stood up.
“Let's go.” I said,in an authoritative manner.
“Where?” She stared up.
I frowned.
How was she still able to question back?
I gazed into her eyes.
“Let's go.”
She hesitated for a moment before getting up.
She lost her right to choose the moment she signed the contract. She isn't supposed to think before obeying my command.
“What's next now?” She asked slowly.
“You're free.” I smirked.
The rain fell heavily outside, but she didn't mind. She smiled into the storm like a girl reborn. I growled, clutching my chest as fire licked beneath my ribs. Something had gone terribly, impossibly wrong.
It stirred something behind my ribs. Not warmth. Not pain. Something I didn’t have a name for—and didn’t want to.
I growled, clenching my jaw.
Something wasn't right, what went wrong?
“In the car.” I ordered.
“It's been long since I felt the rain on my face.” She ran her hands through her hair.
“Let me stay some more.”
My eyes widened in shock and anger.
‘No one goes against me.’
I grabbed her hand aggressively.
The moment I touched her skin, something in me convulsed. My ribs cracked—not physically, but with something far worse. Binding. Recognition. A curse.
I looked at her… and knew I could never command her again.
My knees collided with the ground as I felt groaning.
“No.” I whispered slowly.
Why is this?
It's impossible…
I should have never, this girl Olivia. How could I?
Somehow be connected to her?
Our souls are now linked together, guardian to a soul that should be taken.
What have I done to myself?
***OLIVIA POV***
It happened so quickly, the moment I signed the contract. I was free to go, the door that held me back to seeing the other side. The better side of this cage was now being opened to me.
What kind of power could a person possess?
I felt a part of me disappear as I signed the contract, one part of me felt like me. But the other part felt like a completely different person.
Like an island in the middle of an ocean, dead, emotionless and cold.
But I wasn't going to let it distract me from the joy of freedom.
The rain fell heavily and I loved it as it fell on my body. Each drop is a reminder that I was living in reality and wasn't a dream.
I smiled, knowing that my life wasn't automatically back to normal.
As a matter of fact,I didn't even know what would happen to me next.
Who I just made a deal with but I was out wasn't I?
It doesn't matter.
“In the car.” He ordered in that deep and husky voice.
“It's been long since I felt the rain on my face…let me stay some more.”
I replied, I wasn't ready to leave the rain at least not yet.
But he reminded me of the reason I got out when he yanked my hand to the car.
But he suddenly stopped. Pressing his chest and falling to his knees.
Grunting.
“Are you alright?” I asked as I attempted touching his chest but he caught my hand quickly before I could touch him.
He slowly tightened his grip until I started feeling the pain.
“Ouch,that hurts.” I exclaimed.
He slowly raised his head,glaring.
I struggled but his grip was too strong as he got up.
Involved in his image, looking up at him. He set me free, his eyes were widened with what seemed like shock.
“In.” He commanded.
I went in without a fuss, his eyes still fixed on me.
He was scanning me, instinctively I used my hands to cover my body.
He just sat quiet as the car moved,I looked through the windows hoping he would divert his attention somewhere else.
I didn't care where but certainly not my body.
Wait…
Was this what he meant when he said I would belong to him?
Fuck no!
But what if I refused and he threatened to throw me back in?
Samantha. No!
“Relax…I'm not going to rip your clothes off here,if that's what you're thinking.”
I swallowed deeply.
“Then take your eyes off me.”
He let out a soft grin and crossed his legs.
“No.”
No? Really? Is he just going to keep scanning until he feels satisfied? I could only stay at his neck. The eagle tattoo on his neck made him look kinda…
What? No.
He took a cigarette and lit it up, and I had just about enough.
“Who are you and what did you do to get me out?” I asked firmly.
“I already told you my name.”
“What kind of power does a man possess to take someone out of prison just like that?”
He leaned closer.
“The kind that will put you back to your right position in your father's company.”
He reduced his voice barely above a whisper.
“... remember before all this, you were possibly heir to the Rhodes cooperation and in the blink of an eye you lost it all.”
“How do you know so much about me?”
“I did my digging.”
“What did you do to get me out?”
“Apparently there was someone who had a more compelling story than you… your assistant.”
“No,not Carla. She's – she's good. How can you be so wicked to do that to someone innocent?”
“You say that yet you're the one breathing free air because of my wickedness…I can turn the car around and she'll be free and you'll be back there.”
His words silenced me, Carla was the best assistant anyone could ever ask for. She was family to me, right from the orphanage, fighting the bullies for me.
She doesn't deserve this, but…
I can't, I can't go back there. I wouldn't survive another day in there.
‘I’m sorry Carla, when I find who killed my father, I would surely come back for you’
“Why quiet all of a sudden?... Don't you want to save your friend anymore?”
I didn't reply,I couldn't. Who would?
I bowed my head, whimpering in shame.
The car stopped, was the unpleasant ride finally over?
“We're here.” The car doors opened and my eyes widened in shock.
The house was massive, like paradise,it was beautiful.
What was I expecting from someone who grants wishes in the shadows.
“Take my hand.” He said offering it.
This was my final chance to restore my name,a man sent by God if there's still one. I at least tried to convince myself that what I was doing was right.
It's disrespectful not to accept a gift but that's the problem, I don't even know what to call this yet. But one thing was sure as I placed my hands on his.
This is an opportunity Olivia, don't screw this up.
