Chapter 3: Surprise.

***DIMITRI POV***

I tightly grabbed my sheets that were drenched in sweat, memories and flashes I couldn't understand.

‘I girl in a robe, running, soaking in blood, screaming.’

I jumped up, panting and breathing heavily.

What just happened? Did I just have a nightmare? That's very unusual, memories of a girl I can't remember and memories I would rather keep locked.

I ran my hands through my hair, I grabbed the clock to check the time but it immediately left my hands and landed hard on the floor.

I crumbled to the floor,my heart freezed in pain yet my body burned in agony. I crawled to the bathroom, hoping that the shower would comfort me.

What kind of pain is this? It felt as if pulling my heart out would stop it,if only I could muster up the strength to move it.

It suddenly stopped,I sighed in relief but something felt different in my body.

Strange patterns, black vein like tattoos were now on my body. What does this mean?

I've never seen these before, yet it felt familiar.

I staggered to my feet, barely standing. The sun wasn't up, which means it was still night,so I slowly made my way to the kitchen. Maybe a glass of water would help.

And to my displeasure I saw her lying there,on my couch. I could help but feel drawn to her,I approached slowly, unsure of what to do but just wanting to see her face.

She was beautiful, even when she slept. I hated that I recognized her beauty. Watching her made a little of the problems lessen. She moved a little, making me move away quickly.

“She's just an insignificant girl, don't let it control you.”

I have to find a way out, answers to get rid of…this.

***OLIVIA POV***

The bright sun woke me up, it's been a while since I felt the warmth of it. The couch felt softer than the bed in prison,I woke up with a bed sheet over me,I don't remember covering myself.

“Good morning miss Olivia.” A cheerful voice said from behind,it was an elderly man. A butler.

“Good morning, Mr conceido.” I responded politely.

“Breakfast is ready, to be served in the dining room.”

Breakfast? Already?

I walked slowly to the dining room, looking around the house. He had a taste that I can say.

I sat, not fully convinced but ready to eat.

A smile formed on my face when I saw the meal, but before I could take a spoon he walked in and I paused. Looking at him like a fool.

“Still devouring like you're in chains.”

“Is that how survival looks to you?”

“You're not in a cage anymore, Olivia. Try acting like it.”

I nodded in agreement, all I did was try to eat in peace, but I guess you can't find peace in someone's home.

“Wash off the scent of guilt. You’re representing me now.”

“Where am I going?” I asked and he raised his eyes with a look of disbelief, like he was shocked I even asked.

“Ask fewer questions. Obey faster…Dress like you still have a name.”

“Conceido!” He yelled.

“Yes master.”Conceido arrived, bowing down.

How could he talk to a man old enough to be his father like that?

“Show her one of the bathrooms and ensure the maids dress her properly.”

“Yes master Dean.”

Dean cleaned his mouth with the napkin.

“Be quick.”

And with that he left.

Such audacity, who did he think he was to just order me around?

I suddenly lost my appetite and dropped the spoon.

“Miss Olivia, this way.” Conceido bowed with a convincing smile.

How was he in a good mood even after someone half his age talked rudely to him.

But instead he smiled harder.

He led me to a beautiful room, with a lot of space for one person.

“The shower’s that way.” The bathroom was big.

I'm about to get my first freedom bath,I water caressed my skin softly. I didn't want it to end.

The warmth comforted me,I closed my eyes. Leaving it all but I remembered…

Carla, this wasn't a hard earned freedom,I was living her freedom life.

Here I am, enjoying good food and warm water when an innocent person suffers.

I ought to be ashamed of myself,so I quickly turned off the shower.

“Look at yourself.” I whispered as I stared at the mirror.

The girl in the mirror gave me judgy eyes.

“I can't, I'm not going back…I'm going to find some way to help Carla,I promise.”

Comforting myself in the mirror gave me a little relief, what I'm doing is right… I hope so.

The moment I stepped out of the bathroom,I saw three girls, looking at me with a beautiful red gown.

My jaw dropped just looking at it.

“Master Anderson sent us to prepare you.”

Prepare me? For what exactly?

They all wore happy expressions on their faces. It felt creepy.

“I'm not yet…”

“Don't worry, we'll take care of it.”

They yanked me and placed me on the chair, as I stared at myself in the mirror.

“We'll make you the prettiest person ever.”

•••••••••••

“We're done.” They said in unison, revealing me to the mirror.

I could barely recognize who I was looking at, slowly I moved my hands around my face and body trying to confirm it was me.

It really was.

“Wow…you girls made me look beautiful.”

“No miss, you were always beautiful. You just needed to believe it.”

A smile formed around my face.

As I walked down the stairs slowly. He was waiting down,in a black suit.

When he saw me he paused, his dark grey eyes gazing down into my soul.

I couldn't look away, I didn't want to for some reason I couldn't understand.

It felt…right.

His face brightened up a little, and for a moment I saw a glimmer of emotion in his eyes.

Then he switched back to the usual him.

“I said presentable, not perfect. Let's go.”

He walked off.

Ouch. That hurts, why the hell was I expecting more?

I shaked my head back into reality,I struggled with the heels but refused to show it.

I finally managed to reach the car, and he just stood patiently watching me struggle.

Reaching the limousine gave me relief like I just climbed a mountain.

The driver kicked the car engine.

“You still haven't told me where I'm going?”

He grinned softly.

“Somewhere between mercy and revenge…consider it a surprise.”

I never liked surprises, and something told me that I would regret this one.

The car pulled up slowly at the Levendon hotel. A place meant for hosting very big ceremonies.

Before the car stopped, reporters already rushed. Taking pictures,I hated the light. It was too distracting.

Dean took my hand and I came out gently, bowing my head. He slowly led me away from the lights.

And when I raised my head, my blood iced by the sight.

No.

No.

I wasn't prepared for this…not yet, I wasn't prepared to face them. I suddenly wished I was back to the lights.

But I wasn't,I was now face to face with all of them.

“Olivia?” Zoey asked in shock,in her white dress wearing a ring,my ring. Gavin frantically dropped his drink in shock as it landed with a shrieking sound.

“You…” Mother said in a venomous tone.

This wasn't a surprise,it was a trap.

My haunted past staring through my uncertain future.

My body shook,I wished this was a dream and I could just wake up.
