Today is a very important day for the entire Pack, as the banquet takes place every five years in the Blue Grison Pack. This romantic event is intended to assist young wolves in finding their mates
Inside the vast banquet hall, hundreds of people are mingling on the porcelain tiles, representing all walks of life, from the elite to the middle class.Men and women are dressed in attire suitable for a royal ceremony, and the sounds of laughter, ceremony whispers, clinking glasses, and the clatter of forks and knives fill the air.
In one corner of the building, Vald sits, horrified and bewildered.
He is filled with rage towards the universe and the moon goddess for allowing everything in his life, from childhood to now, to unfold as it has. He has been staring at his reflection into the mirror for hours, seemingly searching for something within his soul during this time.
Nothing makes sense to him at the moment. It’s a full moon night, and he had anticipated a joyful evening, not one that leaves him trembling. The mere thought of what could happen today sends shivers down his spine.
He imagines how people would perceive him, thinking he has lost his mind. After Sheyryll vanished, he promised himself he would never think of her again, but his heart often betrays him, compelling him to remember her. A significant part of him wishes to forget Sheyryll quickly because holding onto her could shatter his world.
But how will he solve mysteries now? Sheyryll handled everything effortlessly without him lifting a finger. His thoughts drift back to the baby bump Sheyryll had.
"How could that be fake?" he silently wonders.
This question leads him to ponder whether Sheyryll could truly be a ghost. That only she could've said that to lead him astray because she doesn't want to be marked?
They began dating two months after their first meeting in the woods that night. They discovered she was pregnant last month, which meant she was five months along, as they had been intimate for the past six months.
How could her soft, porcelain skin, which felt incredible under his touch, be a fantasy? How could the gentle moans that escaped her lips be a lie? How could the warmth radiating from her body when they embraced be fake? How could the spark he felt when their fingers intertwined be a myth? How could the butterflies in his stomach the moment he first saw her be merely an illusion?
Above all, he refuses to believe that Sheyryll is or was a ghost because how could a dead person be pregnant?
"Maybe I shouldn't have pushed her away when she tried to explain, but I was too angry to talk to her then," he mutters to himself.
Thoughts start to swirl in his mind as he returns from his daydream. The question he hesitated to ask earlier, due to his anger, will always linger in his heart like a thorn. A tear falls when reality hits him once more.
VALD
“Though the days are gone, the memories will always remain.” I said to myself.
Finally, I had discovered true love, the kind that Sheyryll and my sister read about in their novels. A love that keeps you excited and on your toes all day. A love that makes you feel whole, brings you peace, and grants you freedom. A love that comes once in a lifetime, and I know that no one else but Sheyryll will ever possess my heart like she did.
I know this because I felt free; I looked forward to going home every day, knowing Sheyryll would be there, waiting for me with joy. I stopped clubbing and living recklessly, not because she asked me to, but because love inspired me to change.
It’s unfortunate that all of it was for nothing, as she wasn’t real, even though I felt a strong connection. Perhaps it really was all an illusion. But my love for her was, and will always be, genuine.
With the little strength I have left, I change out of the tuxedo I wore into the same ragged clothes I had on the day I met Sheyryll.
Nothing in this world will ever be the same for me again, so I see no reason to continue living. I stand on the rooftop of my house, facing the abyss below, knowing that sharp blades await my fall. I take a deep breath and jump.
The last thing I remember is calling out Sheyryll's name before plunging into darkness, feeling free as I breathed my last.
After what seemed like five minutes, I feel a light piercing through my closed eyes. I open them and stand up. Looking down, I see my lifeless body peacefully hanging above the blades.
Suddenly, bright rays of light struck my eyes, and I glanced upward.
I hesitate, contemplating whether to walk toward the light, but then I remember Sheyryll's words she said that when she passed away, she saw the light. But she didn't walk inside it. She told me that the light comes only once, meaning I could only be with her if I didn’t take my light. I turn away until the light fades.
I glance back at the light, now completely gone, and realize I must find Sheyryll.
“Find me for what?” I hear her voice behind me. I turn around, realizing I no longer need to search for her.
“I’m sorry I lied to you. I just didn’t know how to tell you that I was dead.” she says shyly
“So, you thought it was best to toy with my feelings?” I bawl at her and she turns to face me.
“No, no, that wasn’t my intention,” she says, gritting her teeth.
“You seem anxious about something. What is it?” she sighs and turns away.
“It’s a long story, and I don’t have much time to explain,” I say, furrowing my brows in confusion.
She sighs again.
“When a child is born on Earth, it’s said that an ancestor from that child’s family has returned. A child is about to be born at Mt. Zion Hospital from my Pack, but unfortunately, the baby will be stillborn." she explains
"I don't see how you're involved in this, aside from the fact that she's from your realm," I say.
"I help people find their light, and I'm going to help her take hers," she replies, and I nod.
"Is that all?" I ask and she shakes her head.
"Before I realized you were dead, my plan was to let my spirit inhabit her." I gasp; this woman is more unhinged than I thought.
"What!? You mean..."
"I was going to be reborn with different parents. Then, at some point in my life, I would meet you as a werewolf, not as a ghost."
"Now that you know I'm dead as well and have become a ghost, what are you going to do, just leave me in the land of the dead?" she chuckles.
"I could find you a stillborn child too. I want to return. I may have avenged my family, but my land is still a cursed Pack, and I want to restore its former glory." I sigh.
"Alright, then let's look for a stillborn baby from my Pack." I proclaimed
"You should know that we might not find a stillborn from the Alpha bloodline in your Pack's Hospital, so it’s possible you won’t be an Alpha in your next life," she warns, and I nod in agreement.
They say that in times of sorrow, you truly see the power of the gods. I can attest to that, as we managed to find a stillborn child for me just in time when we arrived at the hospital.
"Vald, promise me you'll find me in our next life," she urges.
"I promise you, Violet. I will find you, even if it's the last thing I do," I assure her. We embrace and kiss before allowing our souls to enter the lifeless bodies in the incubators.
You might be wondering why I go along with everything Sheyryll Violet Valensky says, right? Well, let me share a few things that have led me to this moment. I fell in love with Violet, and that is a memory I shall forever cherish.
