Chapter 3

SHEYRYLL'S POV

It has been five years since I left from the world of the living, five years since I was stripped of joy and laughter. Since then, I have been engulfed in pain and anger.

When people are alive, many are confused. Some believe that after we die, we go to heaven; others think that ants consume us and that’s the end.

Some say that dying is like life suffering from amnesia, claiming that the day we die is when we forget we ever existed and begin a new life as someone else. Others believe that upon death, we reunite with our ancestors or live among our gods.

When I was alive, I thought I would join the moon goddess after my death. However, my experience was different.

On the day I died, I found myself observing my lifeless body on the bed while my spirit floated nearby.

Until it dawned to me that I had become a ghost.

I witnessed my father walking toward the light, followed by my mother and brother. Meanwhile, I was consumed by pain and anger, allowing my light to fade as I chose to become a wandering ghost, seeking revenge on those who betrayed us and robbed me of my chance to become a queen for their own gain.

I did exact revenge on those responsible for my death, my family's demise, and the suffering of my nation. However, my existence turned lonely afterward. I was isolated, watching others take their lights and vanish forever. I had no friends or family.

I became a ghost filled with resentment towards other spirits, many of whom had lost their lights due to their wicked actions. They bored me, as all they cared about was tormenting the living, so I preferred solitude.

I wandering around because I wanted revenge not bother living innocent people.

Then came my eighteenth birthday. I was the princess of Mount Vernom Pack and a werewolf, destined to find my mate on that day if I were alive. Yet, a miracle occurred: I found my mate even in my after death, though he was alive and an Alpha.

I still vividly remember that day; the memory feels as fresh as if it were yesterday.

I had just left the hospital after witnessing a newborn's arrival. I felt restless, reminiscent of the day my parents died. Uncharacteristically, I was eager to return to my living space, which was a cave at the time.

On my way back, I saw a car speeding down the road, seemingly out of control. I froze and summoned all my strength to stop it. When it finally halted, I moved away but returned when I heard voices.

"I swear I saw a girl in front of the car; let’s go back and see if I hit her," said the driver. I approached the scene.

"Fine, Vald, go on your own; I’ll wait here," pouted the girl with red hair, crossing her arms.

"Please stay with her; this place is dangerous. Protect her for me," the other guy nodded as "Vald" so I heard went back with a flashlight.

I was about to follow Vald when I noticed the pair left behind, caught up in a romantic moment. Isn’t that girl Vald’s girlfriend? I thought to myself as I continued on my way.

In the distance, I spotted Vald, looking frantic as he searched for me, unaware that what he saw was a ghost and hadn’t harmed anyone.

My heart urged me to tell him I was a ghost and that he should turn back, but I also longed to admire such a handsome man with a kind heart. So, I simply stood there, appreciating the beauty of this man.

After what felt like an eternity, he decided to head back, and I followed him. I knew I shouldn’t, but my heart wouldn’t let me resist.

As we approached the car, the sounds of screams, moans, and grunts from the couple grew louder. I could sense Vald’s pain and anger, but I was powerless to help.

He glanced at them and took a step back, waiting for them to finish.

I couldn’t help but wonder how long he had been enduring this. My heart ached for him. While I didn’t know the pain of being betrayed by a partner, I understood the anguish of betrayal, and I could see he was experiencing that now.

He pulled out his phone and pretended to be on a call, which prompted them to stop and dress appropriately.

“Yeah, I guess I was just scared and worried, but please send a few men to search here; only then will I be able to rest easy,” he said.

“Who were you calling, babe?” the deceitful woman asked, placing her hand on his chest.

“The patrol team for today,” he replied, and she nodded as they got into the car and drove off.

I couldn’t help but wonder how long he had been living with such pain.

After a few minutes of reflection, I realized something, I had found my mate! I’m dead, and he’s alive, but I felt the connection, and he did too. I saw him signaling that his mate was nearby. I needed to find him; he needed to see me.

“It’s a pleasure to finally see you after searching for you for two days! Why do you keep disappearing?” I rolled my eyes.

There’s this boy I met after I died who thinks he’s my friend, but he’s annoying and exhausting. Sometimes I wish I hadn’t met him.

"Dominic, just go back to where you came from. I don’t want to see you,” I said, but he smiled as if he didn’t understand that I needed some privacy.

“Ugh, you always say that. What’s wrong?” I looked at him and walked away.

The best part about being a ghost is that I can teleport.

He’ll find me again in two days.

I leave him there, waiting on me to help him with hunting. He doesn't want to take his light but to keep torturing poor people
