The court blurred around me, muffled as though I’d been plunged underwater. The golden-amber eyes bore into mine unyielding, ancient, and cold. They weren’t filled with rage or recognition, not even curiosity. Just... stillness.

He blinked once.

A subtle, slow blink like a predator who’d already decided you weren’t a threat. Or worse, one that had already decided your fate.
