We arrived at the border and saw the carnage that Nicole's little rescuer had caused.

I glanced at some of the benches, and I could see border patrol officers nursing each other's injuries and wrapping bandages around mangled cuts and wounds.

Whoever did this and was able to do it single-handedly must have been someone really powerful. It seemed impossible for one man to take on an entire platoon of border security soldiers.
