Olivia's POV

My heart began to beat rapidly. I searched his face for signs that he might be angry with me, but I didn't see any.

He pulled me closer and kissed my forehead.

"I was planning to tell you about the outcome of the meeting with the council."

I took a deep breath. I already knew that the council didn't approve of me. It was easy to imagine their bad news; I doubted they had anything nice to say to me.
