Angela's POV
The next day, I woke up and prepared myself for school even though I was still having a slight headache from the whole messed up dinner last night.
Mom was still in her room, probably sleeping, I guess. And I was certain my soon-to-be stepfather had left already. I stepped out of the house and took a cab to school.
Upon arriving at school, the school’s principal informed me that I passed the entrance examination and my homeroom teacher will show me to my classroom. I wasn't excited because it's not a new thing to me to pass my exams, after all, I always cheat.
Though I wasn't really sure about myself since I haven't found the guy that caught me cheating yesterday. I need to find him and beg him not to report me.
My homeroom teacher, Mr. Dennis walked me to my class and after the chorus greeting, he introduced me to the entire class as the new transfer student.
“Angela, meet Caleb,” the teacher said, pointing to a guy seated near the window. “He's the class president, so if you need anything or you want to make enquiries about anything, you can simply reach out to him, okay?” He added with a welcoming smile.
I nodded my head softly as I lifted my head up to look at who she was pointing to, but my blood suddenly froze the moment I set my eyes on him.
It was him.
The same guy from the window yesterday, the same one that saw me cheating and walked away with a straight face.
The moment we locked eyes, he didn't even blink, he just kept staring at me with the same unreadable face as yesterday.
For a second, it was as if I couldn't breath, or my airways were blocked.
“Come-on, say hi to everyone.” Mr. Dennis urged me with a calm expression.
I hesitated for a while before bowing my head slightly to greet the entire class, but I didn't even utter a word, I couldn't—I was dumbfounded. I can't believe my class president caught me cheating on my first day at school.
I went ahead and took the window seat before him, my legs and hands trembling as I slipped into the chair.
He didn't say a word to me until it was closing hour and he stormed out of the class like he didn't see me at all.
I followed him immediately and walked behind him, slow and hesitant, unsure how to approach him and start explaining myself to him.
Caleb took a turn off the hallway and I instantly followed him, I never knew he was about to corner me.
I didn't know he noticed that I've been stalking him.
The moment I took the turn off the hallway too, someone suddenly grabbed me by my wrist and pulled me against the wall.
It was Caleb.
“Shh—” he whispered as he used his palm to cover my mouth so I wouldn't scream.
I suddenly became sweaty all over my face, the closer I got to him, the more I realized Caleb isn't just handsome, danm, he's a hook.
“Why are you following me?” He murmured, his palm was still pressed on my mouth as he let his fullness press me hard against the wall.
I tried to speak, but I couldn't because he was closing my mouth.
“Don't you dare scream.” He mumbled as he slowly lifted his palm off my mouth.
I gasped, “Please, don't report me…” I blurted immediately. “Don't tell anyone about what you saw yesterday.” I added pleadingly.
He scoffed, “You? I don’t care enough to report you,” he said. “You're not even worth my attention.”
I didn't know if I should be angry at his words or not. But I later realized that it's actually a good thing that I don't worth his attention, this simply means he won't report me since I don't worth it. Great!
He leaned in, eyes cold, “A new student cheating on her first day? Bluff!” He laughed bitterly and shoved me aside to walk away.
But just as he was about to walk away, he suddenly sighted a girl walking towards us—she’s tall, pretty, curvy and her skin is nothing to be compared with.
I didn't know the relationship between the approaching student and Caleb, but I was shocked when Caleb suddenly pulled me back into his arms and pressed his lips against mine.
He didn't stop at that, he started to kiss me softly like two lovers in a dark romance novel.
“Could that be his ex-girlfriend?” I thought.
The only reason a guy will want to show off in front of a girl like this could only be for one reason—she's his ex and he wants to make her jealous, or he's trying to get her attention.
I felt the girl's eyes on us as she hissed her way past us.
It was as if my entire body went numb, my mind blanked out like my entire memory was being wiped out.
It was only after the girl walked past us that I came back to my senses, snapping back to reality. I jerked away from him and shoved him back like his touch burned.
Without warning, I slapped him hard on the face, and his face instantly swung to the other side due to the force I applied on the slap.
He grabbed his reddened cheek and looked at me with disgust in his eyes.
“What the hell is wrong with you? What was that for?” I yelled angrily.
He smirked and laughed bitterly, shrugging off the slap as if I hadn't hit him hard enough and it didn't move him. His hair was scattered all over his face, now covering half his forehead and eyes, and the way it framed his features, giving him a ruggedly handsome look that seemed almost too savage and hot.
He leaned forward, “We're even now. That was the price for your little cheating secret, newbie.” He sneered and walked off—leaving me stunned, embarrassed, and furious.
I couldn't move, I was shocked.
Is this how things are done here? You kiss a girl you don't even know just to make some other lady jealous?
How crazy!
As he walked away, I turned and noticed girls hovering around him but he snubbed them all. With the way I'm seeing things right now, Caleb seems not to be just the class president, he might also be the school's bad boy and heartbreaker and girls drool over him.
I can't just imagine it—how girls started to giggle and smile softly among themselves as he walked past them. He barely paid attention to any of them though.
I adjusted my school uniform and angrily stormed out of the school—back home. I can't believe tomorrow is Saturday and also my mom's wedding day.
Like for real, mom is getting married to Dr. Rookie?
No, this can't happen. I can't let it happen.
Oh hell.
