Unwanted Meeting

Austin tried to control himself. “Is my question too difficult?” he asked in his deep voice, able to make Emma gasp from her reverie.

“Oh my gosh!” Emma’s body almost swayed backwards. However, she was still able to balance it. Her forehead wrinkled in confusion about what to answer. She looked at her friends, trying to ask for help.

Austin looked at his watch, then said, “Enough! You get punished for not paying attention to the lecture material that I explained carefully.” He put three books on Emma’s desk. “Summarize all the materials from these three books, then present them at the next meeting.”

Emma widened her eyes. “Am I the only one doing this assignment?”

Austin nodded his head. “Yes, of course. Do I need to add more assignments?”

“No! This is more than enough!” Emma answered quickly. She stared at the three thick books. A feeling of regret came over her for not paying attention to the material that was explained carefully.

“Okay. That’s enough for today’s material. Is there anything you need to ask?” Austin returned to the lecturer's desk, then closed his laptop and put it in his bag.

"Nothing, Mr." The students' voices in the class were in unison.

"Okay. See you later." Austin immediately rushed out of the classroom.

Emma lowered her head dejectedly. She still couldn't believe that Austin gave an assignment that should have been divided into several groups, but instead it was given to her, who had to do it all. "He must be taking revenge on me. Why are there so many sources of problems on this campus that stress my mind? Not to mention meeting Jason. Ugh ... I feel like moving universities." She buried her face on her arms that were propped up on the table.

At 1 p.m. in the afternoon, Emma and her friends went to the cafeteria. Her eyes looked here and there to make sure Jason was not there because she remembered that the man was also studying on this campus. "Why haven't I seen his face before? Does he rarely come to class?" she grumbled as she walked.

"Who do you mean?" asked Celine, who was beside Emma.

“Eh, by the way, do you know Jason is a medical student?” asked Emma, who was starting to get curious.

“Jason? I don’t really know medical students. You know that they are known to have their own community of friends. How come you’re asking about medical students?” answered Celine while pulling out a chair, then sitting down first.

Emma sighed, then sat down beside Celine, followed by her other friends. “Nothing. I was just asking.” She looked at her friends. “What do you all want to order? Let me order.”

After the paper was filled with her friends' food orders, Emma stood up and went to order. "Jason!" Suddenly, she heard a man's voice calling the name, which made her heart beat fast. Her footsteps suddenly stopped.

"Jason?" Emma thought while biting her lip. She hesitated to look back. She felt unprepared to meet her future fiancé.

Emma, who was initially hesitant to make sure, now dared to see what the face of the person named Jason looked like. “Hopefully he’s not the same man as the one in the photo that Mom gave me last night,” she muttered softly, and then she looked back.

Emma’s eyes immediately widened when she saw a man walking towards her. “Oh my goodness! Did I see it right? His face looks the same as the one in the photo. Very similar. Is he really Jason who will be matched with me? And what is that? Why is he staring at me so closely? Does he recognise me?” Various questions came to her mind. She stood frozen because she was too shocked. Her whole body felt stiff and difficult to move. Her gaze was directed forward, where Jason's figure was getting closer to her.

“Emma, what are you doing? Why are you in a daze? Let's hurry up and order food!” Celine immediately grabbed Emma's wrist and took her away.

“Emma, wait!” Jason spoke, making Emma and Celine stop in their tracks.

“My life is over,” Emma grumbled in her heart.

Celine, who saw Jason standing in front of her, was immediately captivated by his handsome face. Even her eyes didn't blink at all just because she didn't want to lose the handsomeness she saw now.

“Is there anything I can help you with?” Celine asked while her hands fixed her hair that was slightly covering her eyes. Her smile immediately faded when she knew Jason ignored her.

Jason showed his sweet smile as he stared at Emma's beautiful face. "Finally, I can look at your face directly," he said softly. His happiness radiated from his face.

Several medical students and some students from other departments who recognised Jason, of course, looked curious when Jason openly paid attention to a girl. Even though he had always been known to have a cold attitude towards all the girls around him.

"Oh, sorry. I have to go." Emma immediately turned her body and started walking away, trying to avoid Jason before the man revealed their real relationship in front of many students.

After successfully escaping from Jason, Emma was now in the library. She felt that the place was safe for her. Her gaze looked here and there, making sure Jason was not there. "Huh, thanks God! He didn't follow me." She then started looking for a book to read so she wouldn't get bored hiding in the library.

"This seems good." Emma took a book entitled 'Hidden World History'. She then looked for a place to sit. Her gaze was now fixed on the figure of a man who was seriously reading a book on the corner bench. "Why is that killer lecturer here?" she muttered softly while squinting her eyes.

The atmosphere in the library, which was initially quiet, suddenly turned noisy. Emma was curious and looked back. Her eyes widened when she saw Jason at the edge of the door. She immediately covered her face with a book. Luckily, many female students were crowding around and seeking attention from Jason, so he didn't see her.

"Oh no! Where should I hide?" Emma was confused while peeking at the conditions around her through the gaps in the books that almost covered her entire face.

Without thinking, Emma immediately ran to the seat in her own corner. She confidently sat next to Austin while her face was still covered with a book.

Austin, who was concentrating on reading a book, immediately gasped when he saw someone suddenly sitting next to him. "Who are you?"

Emma showed her face a little. "Hello, Mr Austin. This is me." Emma smiled sweetly.

"You're a student with no manners," Austin grumbled, returning his focus to his book.

Emma smiled wryly at her lecturer's response. She covered her face again with a book so that Jason wouldn't see her. "I hope he doesn't come here. It's impossible. He came here because Mr Austin was here. Jason definitely wouldn't dare." Emma was busy with her own thoughts.

Jason took a deep breath after successfully avoiding the crowd of female students. Luckily, his friends helped distract them. He stepped into the library. While he was looking for the book he was reading, he accidentally saw someone he knew. He smiled happily, then approached the person.

"Geez! What a happy coincidence to meet you, Austin," Jason said, making Emma's eyes widen instantly.
