We left the club just past midnight. Ethan stood by the entrance, his eyes fixed on the ground. I didn’t spare him a glance as I walked past him.

I climbed into my car, started the engine, and drove away without looking back. By the time I reached home, exhaustion hit me. The day had been long, fulfilling, and overwhelming. I barely had time to shower before collapsing into bed.

Sleep came quickly, deep and dreamless.
