Rachel and I walked through the side hallway into the private dressing room at the back of the banquet hall.

The soft golden lighting, the marble counters, and the racks of designer gowns my mother had sent over made it feel more like a showroom than a prep area.

The scent of fresh roses and expensive perfume lingered in the air.
