Katelyn’s POV

The next day, Rachel and I were wandering through the mall, arms looped together, chatting about nothing in particular. For the first time in a while, it felt like life was finally settling into something that resembled peace.

Until I saw him.

Derek.

He was standing near the entrance of a boutique, arms crossed, eyes locked on me with that same bitter expression I’d seen too many times before. My stomach twisted.
