Austin’s POV

Ruby stood frozen, her eyes wide with fear. Her breathing was fast. She looked at the shattered glass on the floor, then at me, then at the space where the ghost had vanished.

She blinked several times. Then, slowly, she raised a hand and pinched the inside of her arm.

Hard.

When she flinched, I knew exactly what she was doing. She was checking if it was all a dream.

“It’s real,” I said softly.
