John’s POV

I stared down at the shattered wedding photo, Ruby’s smile still perfect behind a web of broken glass. For a long moment, I couldn’t move. My eyes stung from crying.

My whole body felt numb. It felt like everything I’d ever worked for my marriage, my future, even my sense of who I was had all come crashing down at once.
