I didn’t expect him to smile when he said it. Not after everything that had passed between us. But the moment I saw it, it hit me how much I’d missed him. 

I pulled my jacket tighter as the crowd started filing out of the rink, my thoughts racing faster than my feet.

Rebecca was already gone. It was just me standing there, waiting, when Austin finally came out through the players’ exit. He had showered quickly, hair damp, a fresh shirt tugged over his frame.
