Ruby's POV

Their footsteps closed in, and the world pressed in around me. The drug pulled at me until the fight left me. I must have lost consciousness.

When I came to, my head felt heavy before my eyes even opened. The air was sharp with the smell of disinfectant. When I finally blinked into focus, I realized I wasn’t in a normal room.

Clear walls surrounded me, thick, smooth panels that looked like glass. No windows. No sound except the faint hum of air vents above me.
