John’s POV

I slammed my phone down onto the bar so hard the glass rattled.

The screen went dark, but the words were still echoing in my head.

‘She’s my girlfriend now.’

Austin’s calm voice cut deeper than I wanted to admit.

I poured myself another drink without bothering to pace it. The liquor burned on the way down, sharp and fast, but it didn’t drown the anger. If anything, it made it worse. My jaw tightened as I stared at the amber liquid swirling in the glass.
