Cressida pursed her lips, looking out the window as Cedric drove.
"I'm sorry if I annoyed you. I just wanted to help"
"It's okay. I understand. I overreacted back there"
"What do you plan to do? Whoever cloned your phone would have already realized they don't have access anymore. They might try to hurt you so you have to be careful until we find out who it is. I'll assign some bodyguards to you.........if you want"
She nodded and got a call from her Dad.
"What is this I'm hearing about you being married?"
She rolled her eyes. Kevin. That rat! Not that she didn't expect it.
"You are correct. I'm married"
"This is some sort of joke, isn't it? Come to the house right now!" He ended the call, giving her no room for objection.
"What happened?"
"It looks like I have to pay a visit to my father"
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"You should...... If you want to"
He made a U-turn, towards her father's home.
"Wait here" she said to him when the arrived and proceeded in. She met Kevin at the entrance with his hands clasped.
"Forgive me. I didn't mean to spill it. Dad threatened to lock me up in the room if I didn't tell him what was going on with you lately"
"Get out of my way. I have nothing to say you" she pushed him aside and went to her dad's study.
He took of his glasses when he saw her.
"Can you make it quick? I have only little time to spend here"
His eyes scanned her and finally stopped at her finger.
"You are truly married"
"Why would I lie about something like that?"
"Without my consent!" He bellowed, hitting the table with his fist. "You are doing this to spite me, aren't you?"
She burst into a fit of laughter.
"Me? Spite you? No. That is not possible. I wouldn't waste my time because of that" she shook her head.
"This man you married, who is he? He better not be a no-name because if he is, you are divorcing him straight up. Now tell me, who is he?"
She sent Cedric a message telling him to come in and wait in the living room.
"He's downstairs"
When they got there, there was no one in the living room and when he was about chastise Cressida, Cedric walked in.
Howard had spent years in the business industry, and he knew a few big names, not personally but from afar. There were few people he didn't dare go close to and one of them was Gary Sinclair. Back then, the man seemed unapproachable. He always went around with his son whose face was not so easy to forget. He was even scarier than his father. After Gary died, that son immediately took over, and now he was standing right in front of him.
Howard was completed dumbstruck. He could hardly move. He blinked a few times to be sure he wasn't dreaming. What was this powerful man doing here?
"Mr Sinclair?"
"That's me"
Howard's eyebrows went up even more and this point, Cressida thought he was going to have a heart attack.
"Wh...... what brings you to my humble place?"
"I'll like to officially introduce myself. My name is Cedric Sinclair, and I'm Cressida's husband. Your son-in-law"
He was clear and precise.
"Husband? He's your husband?"
She shrugged. He was awestruck for about thirty seconds. The demon of the industry was standing in his house and he was his father-in-law. He could hardly believe it.
"You! Don't just stand there. Get him something to drink" he instructed. "Please have your seat"
The doorbell rang. She didn't mind who it was until she saw the person who entered. Gavin. There were still faint bruises on his face.
Cedric was quick to note the change in her expression.
Gavin shot Kevin the stink eye which he reciprocated.
"You didn't tell me you were coming. By the way, meet my son-in-law"
Gavin's brow shot up.
"Son-in-law?"
Cressida went to stand beside Cedric.
"We would like to take our leave now" she said with a straight face. She could not stay another minute in here. "Let's go"
She passed by Kevin and he whispered. "I'm sorry"
She ignored him.
He nodded and they both went out, leaving Howard disappointed.
The moment she entered the villa, she called the butler.
"Have you prepared my room?"
"Yes ma'am. This way"
She nodded at Cedric and followed the butler. He could not help but stare at her retreating back. Her mood had completely changed since she met that man. And for a moment, he had seen fear, in her eyes.
He sent his secretary a message. "Find out about Kevin Jones"
He had just gotten to his room when his phone buzzed. It was a message from his secretary, telling him vital information about Kevin.
His eyes stayed on one of the points.
Kevin frequented bars. The name of the one he visited almost every night was written there.
BREEZE BAR.
Cedric attracted attention the moment he got inside. The ladies were drooling over him. Even those seated with their partners and they were not hiding it.
Cedric looked around, hoping to see Kevin. It only took him a while before he did.
He was drinking his beer in large gulps.
"Can I sit?" Kevin looked up and pointed at him.
"Aren't you Cressida's husband?"
He nodded.
"You can have your seat. I don't want to believe this is a coincidence. I've seen how my dad spoke to you. You are no ordinary person. I doubt people like you spend your time here, and even if you do, you will be in a private room specially reserved for you"
It was true. He was not comfortable sitting here.
"Would you mind if I move us to a private room instead?"
"Of course not" he shrugged.
He spoke to the manager, and they were escorted a VIP room with an expensive bottle of wine.
Kevin fell on the couch. His father had cut down his allowance reducing his previously lavish lifestyle. He couldn't remember the last time he used a private room.
"This isn't from your good will, is it? You want something from me"
Cedric poured him a bottle.
"How much do you know about your sister?"
"Why are you asking me? Aren't you her husband?"
"She wouldn't tell me"
Kevin took a sip from the glass, savoring the taste and took his time before he replied.
"Look, I don't know why and how she got married out of the blue........ I can't believe I'm saying this, but I doubt she loves you. I'm certain she's with you because she stands to gain something"
Cedric's brows creased.
"Cressida isn't capable of love. Her heart is frozen. Back then in high school, she was always by herself, never talks to anyone. All the students called her savage. She hates everyone and anyone except Amy, her best friend. I don't blame Cressida, though"
"Do you know what made her like that?"
"You might not know this, but Cressida and I are half-siblings. We are not close. Not one bit"
"You know something" Cedric pointed out.
"I won't tell you anything. If there's something you want to know, ask her yourself"
Cedric straightened his back.
"Did you know your sister was recently attacked?"
Surprise was evident on his face.
"Who was it?"
"Your sister doesn't know him. She suspects someone sent him"
Kevin knitted his brows. Cedric could see his conflicted expressions.
"Does it have something to do with that man who came in at the house earlier today?"
