Aurora’s POV

Fiona and I were in the quiet examination room. Sunlight slipped through the window, warming the edge of the bed where I sat.

The pain in my arms had dulled, but inside, I was still unsure of my place in this new world. Fiona finished re-wrapping the bandage on my wrist.

She looked at me and said, “Alpha Gray’s been searching for a mate for a long time. He’s picky. Never settled, even when the elders pushed him. But you, you’re different, Aurora, you’re special.”
