Aurora’s POV

The hall was full of light, but the air was tense. I stood at the top of the stairs with Alpha Gray. He was steady, calm, his hand resting at his side, ready if I needed him. I didn’t lean into him right away, not yet.

Down below, Beta James waited. He looked smaller than I remembered, his suit hanging loose on his thin frame, hair a mess, skin sallow.
