Beta James’s face twisted as the word “pregnant” left my lips. For a second he just stood there, mouth open, unable to process it. His hands shook at his sides.

“That’s not true,” he spat. “You’re not pregnant. You’re just trying to hurt me. You want to see how far you can push me?”
